Gross income $7000 Real estate tax I paid $700 The bottom of Sch E is $6300 So, this income $6300 is supposed to include for calculation for the limitation of EITC? Then, I am not supposed to get any EITC?! If so, I don't understand why TT software still shows I get $3060 EITC credit?!

I have a bare land renting out in my home country. I own the land directly which was inheritance after my mother passed away. The rent income was $6300 in 2019. This income counts on Investing income, or not? Turbo Tax shows I get $3060 EITC at the end after I entered the entire of my other information. I am very confused now because the IRS checklist says if you have " Investing income more then $3600 " you are not qualified for EITC. So, the point I want to know is that this rent income is investing income or not in the IRS definition. Am I eligible to get EITC? I want to make sure to not get into any trouble. If this counts as investing income and I am not eligible for EITC, how can I fix it in TT software? Any answer would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Sorry but another question just came to my mind. When I decide to file my own tax return to get Fed Withholding tax from W2, I check box Someone can claim me as a dependent, and My mother claim me as her dependent in her tax return. Should Taxable Part of Pell Grant I received be reported in my own tax return? In my mother's return? Or in both? I would really appreciate if you can help me to understand.

Thank you very much for your reply. I really appreciate it. Another question, The First page, Section 2, 3, 4 can be left Blank, and Skip to Part IV ? Since my mother was just a individual person, I just need to fill out Section 1 for my information on the first page? Or, do I need to fill out Section 2 to report my mother's information? If I don't need to fill out Section 2, 3, 4 in the First Page on the form 3520, there is nowhere to report my mother's (deceased person) information that makes me wonder and I want to make sure. Thank you very much again.

Thank you for your answers, guys! I really appreciate them. Another question just came to my mind. My mother is going to claim me as her dependent in her tax return. Can I still get fed tax withheld in my W2 by filling my own tax return for purpose to get refund it only? If so, I just check on SOMEONE CAN CLAIM YOU AS A DEPENDENT on the first page of 1040 in my return? Am I understanding correctly? Thank you again.

In 2019, I got Pell Grant $5000, used $600 for books. My income from W2 was $2800. Total of my taxable income is $7000 (5000-600+2800). Do I still need to file Tax Return even my income is less than $12200 of Standard Deduction?
