You are seeing this because the amount of Medicare taxes withheld in box 6 is not exactly 1.45% of the Medicare wages in box 5, due to rounding.
DoninGA found that if you remove any cents for the Medicare wages (Box 5), this will clear the need for Form 8959.
Double check your entries for your W2s. You could have a Box 6 withholding error or misplaced decimal point in Box 5 (e.g., entering $50,000.00 as $500,000) will trigger the form.
Go to Wages & Income and select Edit/Add next to your W-2.
Check Box 5 and Box 6 for every W-2 entered.
Ensure Box 6 is exactly 1.45% of Box 5. If it is off by a few cents (e.g., the W-2 shows $145.01 instead of $145.00), rounding it to the nearest dollar may remove the form requirement.
If the amount in Box 6 (Medicare tax withheld) is more than 1.45% of the amount in Box 5 (Medicare wages), TurboTax must generate Form 8959 to claim a refund of that overpayment. Even a discrepancy of $1 due to employer rounding can trigger this.
If your W2 entries are correct, delete the form:
Select Tax Tools from the left menu, then Tools.
Select Delete a form.
Find Form 8959 and click Delete.
Note: If the data in your W-2 still points to an overpayment, TurboTax will automatically re-generate the form during the final review.

I e-filed my 2024 tax return using the TurboTax Tax Premier online version, and I tried to e-file an amendment to my 2024 tax return. After I clicked submit amendment return, I got this message: "The Intuit Electronic Filing Center is closed for the 2024 Personal Income Tax filing season." November 15, 2025 was the last day to file returns electronically. I just corrected form 8608, nothing else changed, no tax liability change. Why can't i e file my amendment tax return of 2024?

My wife receives a non-qualifying pension from her ex-husband's previous employment. It's reported from Fidelity on a 1099-MISC but when I try to enter as a 1099-MISC, Turbo Tax, Mac Desktop, wants to create a new, additional self-employment with additional tax consequences. I have therefore entered it in Turbo Tax as "Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C". Am I doing the right thing ?

Do you not see the option?
When you get to the screen that says, "Get your federal refund faster" and it gives the option of Fast deposit to Credit Karma or a bank account, select "No thanks".
The next screen is "How would you like to receive your federal refund?" If you are eligible for the Refund Advance, you will see this as an option.
The Refund Advance is not available to everyone.
Here are a couple things to check:
If you are using a TurboTax partner affiliate link to use the software, the Refund Advance will not be available.
If you select the 5 Day Early Refund Delivery, you will not see the Refund Advance option, but you can return to the refund selection page and find all the options listed.
See this resource for more information:

Please continue to check back as many sections are being updated.
Some of TurboTax forms and features may not be ready early in the season because they are awaiting finalization from the IRS or certain State Departments of Revenue. Some of the new tax laws require existing software to be revised or new tax forms to be finalized.
There were many significant new tax laws passed this year.
TurboTax Online updates for new tax laws and other features, but they are done automatically in your web browser. You do not have to manually update like in TurboTax desktop software.
If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can manually check for updates for your TurboTax program by clicking on "Online" in the black bar near the top of your screen and selecting "Check for Updates."
Make sure your program is updated and try some of the steps below.

If your daughter only has wages then here modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) will be the same figure. For greater detail, if she has other income see the information below.
Here is the exact definition: (Number 17)
Modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) is your Ohio adjusted gross income (Ohio IT 1040, line 3) plus your business income deduction (Ohio Schedule of Adjustments line 13). If you did not take a business income deduction, your modified adjusted gross income matches your Ohio adjusted gross income. You will need to know your modified adjusted gross income to determine your personal exemption amount and if you qualify for the following credits:
Retirement income credit;
Lump sum retirement credit;
Senior citizen credit;
Lump sum distribution credit;
Child care and dependent care credit;
Exemption credit; AND
Joint filing credit.
Additionally, if you live in an earned income tax base school district, your taxable income is limited to only income included in your modified adjusted gross income.

Hello. I am a US citizen and independent contractor (1099) with American company using my American mailing address and getting paid to my US bank account. Mid January 2025 I relocated from US to a country with US Tax treaty. Questions are: -Do I have to file taxes in US ( I did notify IRS about my move and new residency) ? -Do I have to file for first couple weeks of January (even though I wasn't physically present in US) separately? Thank you.

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO. You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)
2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS
SINGLE $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind +1600)
MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500 (65 or older/legally blind + $1600)
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.
(The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)
The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. Turbo Tax automatically includes it.

Even though you still worked in MO after your move to IL in early October, you will need to prorate your income as it is reported on your IL state return.
You could always go through your pay stubs and add up the amounts that you earned after your move in October. But, if your income was reasonably consistent on a monthly basis throughout the year, then you can just prorate the total income by month. Take the total amount ($xxx) and divide it by 12. Then multiply that amount by 3 for the 3 months that you lived in IL during 2025.

After you click the big orange button that says, “Transmit my return now?” you have e-filed your return. It's now considered "pending". After the IRS processes your return, it'll either be accepted or rejected.
Once you submit your return in TurboTax Online, you'll see its status on the Tax Home screen of your account. We'll also send you emails letting you know when your e-file status changes.
You can visit the IRS Where's My Refund? site to check if your e-filed return has been received.
If you don't see an e-file status for your return in TurboTax Online, you may have filed your return in a different account or using a different method.
If you used TurboTax Desktop:
Select File.
Select Check E-file status
