Expat Taxes

Hello.

I am a US citizen and independent contractor (1099) with American company using my American mailing address and getting paid to my US bank account. Mid January 2025 I relocated  from US to a country with US Tax treaty. Questions are:

-Do I have to file taxes in US ( I did notify IRS about my move and new residency) ?

-Do I have to file for first couple weeks of January (even though I wasn't physically present in US) separately?

Thank you.

Yes, as a US citizen, you are required to report your worldwide income on form 1040 every year.

Your income in January 2025, if any, is reported together with your other income.
