After you enter your SSA1099 the very next screen is the one that ASKS you if you lived in certain foreign countries in 2025. If you skipped past that screen without clicking NO or if you answered incorrectly, then your Social Security was not taxed correctly. The IRS is catching these user errors and adjusting refunds accordingly.

Issue: The PDF export for Schedule E, Line A ("Did you make any payments in 2025 that would require you to file Form(s) 1099?") always exports as "Yes"
regardless of what is selected in the TurboTax UI.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to Rental Properties > Schedule E section
2. On the question "Did you pay anyone $600 or more for work related to this property?" select "No"
3. Export/print the return as PDF
4. Schedule E Line A still shows "Yes" checked, Line B shows "No" — making it look like you were required to file 1099s but didn't
Testing done:
- Changed both answers to "Yes/Yes" → PDF exported correctly (both Yes)
- Changed answers back to "No" → PDF reverted to showing "Yes/No" again
- Exported multiple times — same result

Hi all, I'm self employed and do consulting work from my home in NJ. One of my clients is based in California. I've never traveled there to meet them, everything has been done remotely. It's a fairly small project. Initially I thought that because I'm self employed and never went there in person to meet this client, this income is considered NJ income and I don't need to pay taxes in California. However, after doing a bit more research (mainly using some of the AI chatbots), it seems I *may* (those chatbots couldn't agree) need to because of California's "Market-Based Sourcing" sourcing rule. My consulting work for the California based client is definitely for their benefit. Does this mean I need to submit taxes in California as well? Many thanks!

WHY does Turdo Tax ask you to take a survey then tell you all about Pricing? To answer my own question, Turdo Tax is nothing more than a load of Sales **bleep** Talk.

Wait until your original return has been fully processed before you amend, and make sure you have saved a pdf of the original return before you amend. (If you do not save it as a pdf, the amended return will overwrite the original, and the original will be lost forever)
See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return -

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

The prize is unearned income. That means income that is not from working. Since it's over $1,350 your son is required to file a tax return and report the income. Since it's not over $2,700 he will not be subject to kiddie tax. (The $1,350 and $2,700 amounts are for 2025. They are adjusted for inflation every year.)
