I am again in the same situation this year and everything was working fine like last year until Turbotax updated yesterday. Now I don't see a way to force turbotax include form 1116 and form 1116 schedule B. Before the update I was able to see form 1116 schedule B in the printed versions and in forms mode. Unfortunately after the update yesterday form 1116 and form 1116 schedule B don't appear in the printed version and I guess they won't be e-filed. Note: I didn't do any changes to my return.... this is pretty frustrating! I will definitely avoid using any workarounds that involve adding a non-existing foreign income because this is basically reporting incorrect data. Does anybody has a solution?

To amend your return, you will just log back in or sign in and select Amend My Return. Before doing so, be sure your return was accepted and processed as the state may make changes to your return. Then you will navigate back to the health care section and change your answer to show that you had insurance for the entire year.
How do I amend my state tax return?

... ugh, I changed Box 7 to include code 8 as Amy stated - and removed the P and the question regarding 2025 2026 went away.

@DaveF1006 Thanks so much for the detailed steps! I was able to make the adjustments for both Federal and Maryland taxes...and eliminate the penalties for both. Thanks again!

If the interest income is less than $600 total, then an estate tax return would not be required. If that was so, then the nominee 1099 form would not be required either, although the individuals who have the rights to the income would still need to report it on their tax returns.
Otherwise the two options you mention would be the correct way to proceed.

No. In order to claim the deduction you must have a QMID code. If you do not see one on the windows, you may be able to contact the manufacturer to get the QMID code. If it turns out they are not participating in the program, then you would not be able to claim a credit for the windows.
In 2025, for each item of qualifying property placed in service, no credit will be allowed unless the item was produced by a qualified manufacturer and the taxpayer reports the Qualified Manufacturer Identification Number (QMID) for the item on their tax return.

You say that you received a refund of $303---and expected a federal refund of $474? That could be correct depending on what version of the software you used and if you used "refund processing" for an extra $40 fee--to pay your TurboTax fees from your federal refund.
How much were your TurboTax fees? (including the refund processing fee and sales tax)?
How can I see my TurboTax fees?

State and federal refunds do not arrive at the same time.
Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities, There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals. Some states process returns quickly and some are very slow.

The newly introduced disk directory produced when I want to open a saved file is terrible. The file tree starts with My Documents. I do not have a folder on my pc with that name. I have Documents, but it doesn't appear in TT's list. Worse, the TurboTax folder listed is a sub folder of Takeout. I have no folder with that name, and when I click on TT there it opens nothing. There's got to be a better way to locate my tax file without having to use Windows Explorer to open it by clicking on the file itself.

Overtime and Reported Tips should be drop downs available.
For box 14, if you have tips listed you would choose the drop down category of reported tips.
For Overtime, you would choose the drop down category of Overtime.
Then after you finish entering the W-2 and his continue you will be asked about uncommon situations, you do not need to check the boxes for tips or OT if you are reporting them in box 14. (IF the dropdowns for tips and overtime were not available, you will check the boxes here on this screen indicating tips and overtime) After that screen you will be asked questions to determine if you qualify for the OT and Tips deductions.
In order to claim tips, the following must apply:
The tips MUST be reported. If they are not reported on a form to the IRS you cannot claim them for the no tax on tips deduction.
If employed they need to be reported on your W-2 or form 4137
If self-employed, they must be reported on a 1099. If you received them as cash, they are not deductible.
Your income must be below $150,000 if you are single or less than $300,000 if Married Filing Jointly. Above these amounts, the deduction starts to fade out and is not available at all for those with income over $400,000 for single and $550,000 for Married Filing Jointly.
You can not claim this deduction if you are Married Filing Separately
You receive tips from an occupation that normally and customarily receives tips
Self-employed, deduction may not exceed individual’s net income, without regard to this deduction, from the trade or business in which the tips were earned.
To qualify the No Tax On Overtime Deduction the following must apply:
You must be a non-exempt employee eligible for Overtime under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act
The Overtime must be on hours worked OVER 40 hours. (if you live in a state where OT pay is required after 8 hours, this does not apply)
Overtime must be paid at more than your regular hourly rate.
Your filing status cannot be Married Filing Separately
Your income must be less than $150,000 if you are single or $300,000 if Married Filing Jointly.

No one in the user forum can even see your tax return, and no one here can access it or "refill" ("re-file?) it for you. What are you actually trying to do? Did you e-file and was the e-file rejected? Or did you file a tax return with missing information or mistakes and do you now need to amend the return? Please explain--and understand that we cannot see your return.

I did a mock return with an inherited retirement account (code in box 7 on the 1099-R is "4"), and then started the Illinois return. After answering the TurboTax questions about Illinois residence status and county of residence, the next screen that shows up says "Retirement Income Deduction". Once you click Continue, the next screen will show the amount of the distribution from the 1099-R (whether it be a pension or IRA). The amount of the pension/IRA excluded shows up on IL-1040 line 5 and gets subtracted from the total income.
You may want to consider removing/deleting the state return and starting over to see if you can get the retirement exclusion screen to show up. If you are using the Online version of TurboTax:
Click on State on the left side menu then click Go to state return
Click the trash can icon by the Edit button for the State that needs deletion.
Click Delete on the pop-up asking if you want to delete this return.
Then you can click Add Another State to get restarted on that return.
If you are using the Desktop version of TurboTax:
Click File in the upper left corner then Remove State Return.
This will bring up a pop-up asking what state you want to remove.
Click on the state in the menu and then click Remove.
You can then go back to the State Taxes tab and pick out a state you want to work on.

Please explain----how do you know -- or what makes you think-- that someone sent a letter to the IRS from your home address? A letter that said what? TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your tax return, so TT would not send any sort of letter to the IRS about you or for you.

Are your sons full-time students? If they are full-time students, living away at school is considered to be a temporary absence from home, so you can still say they lived with you and claim them as qualified children dependents. If they are not students, then simply transferring money to them is not enough to claim them as dependents.
IRS interview to help determine who can be claimed:
https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/who-can-i-claim-as-a-dependent
WHO CAN I CLAIM AS A DEPENDENT?
You can claim a child, relative, friend, or fiancé (etc.) as a dependent on your 2025 taxes as long as they meet the following requirements:
Qualifying child
They're related to you.
They aren't claimed as a dependent by someone else.
They're a U.S. citizen, resident alien, national, or a Canadian or Mexican resident.
They aren’t filing a joint return with their spouse.
They're under the age of 19 (or 24 for full-time students).
No age limit for permanently and totally disabled children.
They lived with you for more than half the year (exceptions apply).
They didn't provide more than half of their own support for the year.
Qualifying relative
They don't have to be related to you (despite the name).
They aren't claimed as a dependent by someone else.
They're a U.S. citizen, resident alien, national, or a Canadian or Mexican resident.
They aren’t filing a joint return with their spouse.
They lived with you the entire year (exceptions apply).
They made less than $5200 in 2025 (not counting Social Security)
You provided more than half of their financial support
