I’m using TurboTax Premier 2025 (Desktop, Windows). After the 3/28/2026 update, I encountered two critical issues: Missing Dealer Transfer Question for Clean Vehicle Credit: Before the update, the software asked: "Did you transfer the credit to the dealer at the time of purchase?" This allowed me to correctly report that I transferred the credit to the dealer. After the update, this question is missing. Now, it only asks about "Vehicle Sold," "Vehicle Use," "Tentative credit," and "Business use percentage." As a result, the software incorrectly includes the Clean Vehicle Credit in my refund, even though I transferred it to the dealer. File Errors When Opening Previously Saved Returns: After the update, opening previously saved 2025 tax files (which passed Smart Check) repeatedly triggers the error: "Hmm, looks like we've hit a snag. We recommend you revisit the last topic you were working on to make sure all info's correct." No specific issue is indicated, making it impossible to resolve. Has anyone else experienced this? How can I resolve it? Thank you for your help! Wey

@JamesG1, if I report using the method you describe it does not populate the correct line on the MI-1040 form (need to populate line 30 as shown in my initial post).   I understand that I can't e-file for Michigan, but that is okay. The issue is that I can't even edit the form to enter the correct number and calculate correctly (see screenshot in my initial post). This was supported last year and it's very disappointing to have this issue now. I have been using TurboTax for over 20 years; it's sad to end the use over such an issue.   Is there any way to report this to the development team? I did that. The issue is that TT doesnt transfer the information to the NJ state return. So NJ is taxing the Roth distribution when it is qualified under the tax code.

I found the issue.  Even though these state-related entries contained amounts of 0, entering a state abbreviation for them resolved the SmartCheck issues.  Looking at some of the entries, I did select a state when entering the values of 0, so I don't know why the software doesn't seem to have loaded/retained them correctly.
The instructions for TurboTax do not seem to work for getting to the Contracts and Straddles section. Anybody know how I can do this?

For Windows…..What I would do on the old computer, is copy the whole Turbo Tax folder that is under your Documents. That should be where the .tax files and pdf files are stored. Also if you haven't done it, I would open each year in the program and save it as a pdf file, go to FILE - SAVE TO PDF so you don't need the program installed to view your return. Copy that folder to a flash drive or best yet is to burn it to a CD or DVD and then you will have a backup of them. Then on the new computer copy the folder (or files) from the flash drive to your Documents folder. You only need the tax return data file ending in .tax2024 to transfer into 2025. You can't transfer the programs. They have to be installed from the CD or Download. You don't need to install older programs unless you need to amend or you didn't save the pdf file. And they only support the last 3 years. If you install an older year you won't be able to update it or download any state programs, so you won't be able to open your return. You need to copy the data file ending in .tax2024 from the old computer or from your backup. On Windows it should be in your Documents then in a Turbo Tax subfolder. Or search your whole computer for all files ending in .tax or .tax204. Copy it to your Documents on the new computer. See this article on how to move your tax return to another computer……. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-data-file/help/how-do-i-move-my-tax-data-file-to-another-computer/00/26128   If you were using OneDrive or some backup program that may corrupt your file.   You need to move your return from One Drive to the Documents folder on your computer.  A lot of people use OneDrive for backing up folders like Documents, and so if you just put the data file in Documents\TurboTax you are actually putting it in: "C:\Users\Username\OneDrive\Documents\TurboTax".
So it's not Windows at all, but the C++ runtimes. Figures, but I wasn't about to pay for something to find out it's simply blocked.

The state tax return information flows from the Federal tax return information in TurboTax, so you may need to delete the state return and start over so that it is set up as Married Filing Separately (MFS) like your Federal return.   To delete the state tax return in TurboTax Online, go to State in the left menu and select the garbage can icon next to the state return.    You can then add it back and let it repopulate with the information from the Federal return, including the MFS filing status.

To see what is causing your return to be rejected and find out how to fix it:   Sign in to your account Select the Fix my return button Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.  What does my rejected return code mean and how do I fix it? If TurboTax is not letting you continue, you can try the following: Go out of your program and go back in. Clear your cache and cookies. Try a different Web Browser. If you are using TurboTax Desktop make sure all updates have been run on your program. You can do this by clicking on "Online" in the black bar across the top of your TurboTax screen. And then select "Check for Updates". If you have any additional questions or information regarding this please return to TurboTax Community and we would be glad to help.
