Maybe there's a simpler way, but I found a work around: I deleted the 1099-B form and re-imported it. When I went through the review for the newly imported form I was able to find and check the necessary box.   As a bonus TurboTax deleted the associated 1099-Div and 1099-Int forms during the re-importation, so I got to re-add supplemental information for them as well. Fortunately I had made notes about the supplemental information when I entered it the first time, so it was straightforward to do.

Thank you for you reply.  Without a worksheet showing exactly how the projected amount of itemized deductions was calculated the user must make the calculation manually and based on experience, it does not match the first (or second) time. For example, there will be a different medical deduction based on the projected agi. As a second example, the state income tax deduction will also change based on the state estimated tax amounts for 2026.   If the Turbotax program is already making those computations, it would be very helpfule to include the details of the computation for the user's review. Thanks again.

It sounds like you may be signing into the wrong account. It's very important to sign into the correct account. Is it possible you have more than one account for TurboTax Online? Use the link below to make sure you are accessing the correct account.  How can I view all of my TurboTax accounts? Please clarify if you have confirmation you did indeed e-file, and if so, the information you received that made you think you needed an IP PIN.    @user17737820630

I received the same letter for my mom's return.  She died in 2025 at 93 years old, so I don't understand why.  Filling out the "2025 Retirement and Pension Estimator" shows that TurboTax was correct.  The only minor thing that could have triggered this is that box 7 of the 1099-R has a 4.  Maybe they want my dad's information on the 4884?  It worked without it for the last few years...

You can view, download, and print your tax returns going back up to 7 years if you filed with TurboTax by following the steps below:    If this is the first time you are logging into your account this year:   Sign in to your TurboTax account and select Continue on the screen showing your prior-year summary. Make sure you're using the same TurboTax account (user ID) as in prior years. On the second screen showing product and pricing, scroll down and select Your tax returns & documents. Select the year you want, then select Download/print return (PDF). If the year you're looking for isn't there, it might be in a different account. Go here to find all of your accounts. One of them should have the return you're looking for. If you started your 2025 return already:   Select Documents from the menu Choose the tax year you want Select Download tax PDF How do I view, download, or print a prior-year tax return?   If you cannot recover the file from TurboTax, you can contact your state's Department of Revenue for a copy.

A life insurance payout when cashed out effectively become a deferred annuity contract. Therefore, annuity is the best fit to correctly tax the income.   The box 7 code D tells the IRS and the program it is life insurance. Why your form does not have the code would be for the issuer to answer. Since it doesn't, when you enter the 1099-R and answer the many questions, the program must choose between qualified or not qualified and the correct way to tax your form.    IRS uses IRC code 72 for tax-deferred income that becomes ordinary income rather than capital gains.
@dgear123 As stated multiple times on this thread - Enter the amount from Form 1099-R box 1 or box 2a  into box 16 so that you can complete the tax return and file.

I'm filing my NJ State Tax return and I'm up to the duplicate wage section which states, "Check 'Remove These Wages' for each state wage line that is a duplicate. Typically, New Jersey wages should be higher than federal wages because New Jersey does not allow the same federal deductions." I am a non-resident of NJ as I live in NY. I have state returns for NY, NJ & CT. All 3 states (NY, NY & CT) are listed within this portion of the return, and I have an option to remove the wages for any of the states. The State Wage amount (box 16) for NY is equal to my federal wages on my W-2 (which is greater than my state wage amount for NJ). Do I remove the wages listed for CT & NY and only leave NJ?? I think the "duplicate" wage wording is throwing me off...

You would enter the closing costs for the original property, as they are part of the cost, so you get credit for that against the sales proceeds reported on the Form 1099-S.

First ask your broker if they have the information. Sometimes they have it, even though they don't put it on the 1099-B. If you can't get the information from your broker, there are several web sites where you can look up historical stock prices. An approximate purchase price will probably be good enough, as long as you have a reasonable basis for the estimate. Here are a few sites you can try. https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/intu/download-data?mod=mw_quote_tab https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/INTU/history/ https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/INTU/intuit/stock-price-history

I have been going through different responses on these forums and I cannot find a straight answer of whether: 1. The NYS Inflation Refund check of $200 we received in 2025 is taxable by IRS if we took the standard deduction? 2. How do I exactly enter it on TurboTax?  If I enter it under Refunds for Local State & Taxes, I am not sure what prior tax year to put since it's not a true refund but an inflation relief check & 1099G form writes "for tax year 2025". If I enter it under Other Miscellaneous Income then, I get taxed by NYS. Does anyone know the answer on how I can enter it correctly so only Federal taxes are withheld if it is taxable?
