okay - new update!   I manually updates the student info worksheet and added my RB on line 6 and zeroed on the 10K credit on line 18.  This then showed the correct tax impact.  I then saved the tax form and exited the program.  I restarted it and as was noted by another user, the RB amount was gone, but the 0 stayed on line 18.  my 1098T also noted it needed review.  Now when i did the review, I got a completely new screen that now showed me the ability to enter RB!!!!  So I completed this part of the conversation, save it and exited the program.  Now when I restart TT and reopen my student info wksht for my daughter, line 6 retained the correct RB amount and line 18 stays at zero!   I wonder if the 10K incorrect credit on line 18 was causing the program to not correctly display the new fields for entering RB on the step by step mode???

I just got the same error as well after I did all the turbo tax checks and paid for the highest level package. My return was rejected immediately - I called support and really got no answer. I cannot tell if this is a software issue on the Turbo Tax side or something I did and the phone rep really didn't give me a clear answer. This has been the first time I've been concerned with the turbo tax software and I've used it for years now.
Can you clarify your question?  Thanks.  @donbell1948

Yes, TurboTax provides one line for Utilities, same as the IRS Schedule E, Line 17.   If you want to break down your Utilities, you can list some of them separately on the four lines provided for Other / Miscellaneous Expenses (19 a through d), if you haven't already used them.   If you have suggestions for future enhancements to the program, you can submit them the next time you complete a Survey after filing or after a customer service experience.   See this TurboTax tips article for more information about rentals.

I was having technical issues with the website that neither I nor the TurboTax expert could understand. After attempting to file several times, my federal return was filed electronically, but my state return was selected as "file by mail." My federal return has successfully been accepted electronically. Is it possible to switch my state to electronic as well at this point?
Hello,   Should I enter my Mom’s RMD’s exactly as shown on her 1099-R’s (dollars and cents), or is it ok to round up/down as necessary?   Thank you.

Your married status all depends on what you are on 12/31/2025.   It's my understanding you can be married or not depending on your status as of that date and not any other.  Hope this answers your question.   If you aren't legally divorced by that date, you have options of married filing separately, married filing jointly or maybe head of household if you have dependents and they live with you.

Not sure why you think your federal refund went to PA.   A state tax due cannot ever be paid by a federal refund.   If you did not receive your federal refund it is for some other reason.   Did you owe back taxes to the IRS or did you owe child support for which the refund was seized?   What does the IRS refund site say for your 2024 refund?   You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds

I am in NJ (just like Dave the OP is), and I ran into the exact same problem that he did. This thread perfectly explained how deductibility of NJ estimated tax payments work: I CANNOT deduct my Q4 2025 payment because it was made in 2026. I CAN deduct my Q4 2024 payment though, because it was made in January 2025. I would like to take this one step further though.  Here are my NJ estimated tax payments for tax year 2025: Jan 2025 payment = $2,300 Apr 2025 payment = $8,100 Jun 2025 payment = $100 Sep 2025 payment = $0 Jan 2026 payment is N/A My deductible amount is $10,500. However, line 5a on Schedule A shows only $10,239. The $10,500 has been reduced by $261. TurboTax explains the $261 in the "State and Local Income Tax Refund Worksheet" as follows: "Refund allocated to tax paid after 12/31/2024." Is it assuming that I itemized in 2024, and deducted the $2,300? I didn't itemize in 2024, so I don't understand why my deduction is being reduced. Can anyone help?

I am using 2025 TT Premier desktop and Form 5695 is not correctly calculating my specific line 29h. I have to override (red font) it with the correct value. See picture - the software is calculating either $0 or $600, depending on what I enter for values in line 25. Please provide update to software soon or response here on solution (or user error)

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.   TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US   Note:  “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.   FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it. Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown. Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.
