This is not a question. It is something that TurboTax needs to look at. There are a lot of people who are trading gold and silver ETFs. If you have a long-term gain and import your 1099, TurboTax does not ask a question either before or after the import with respect to "collectibles". Unless you know that you have to edit the entry for the specific trade, TurboTax will treat it as a long-term capital gain. It might be fun to think that your refund is a lot bigger than it should be but the fun will be over if discovered by the IRS. I tried to figure out how to email TT but they are invisible. Maybe this not will make it through to them somehow.

Yes, you can take the Self-Employed Health Insurance (SEHI) deduction. The IRS rule disallows the deduction only if the employer plan is available to you as an active employee or spouse of an active employee. A retiree plan is not an active‑employee plan.
You can take the SEHI deduction as long as:
You have net self‑employment income
The premiums do not exceed that income
You are not eligible for any other employer plan (your spouse’s employer, for example)

For individuals with a MAGI over $500,000 ($250,000 for married filing separately), the $40,000 cap is reduced by 30% of every dollar over that threshold.

"The retirement plan required that I request withholding." Unfortunately, that was a misinformation on their part. Taxes are only required to be withheld on a distribution that is eligible for rollover, and this distribution paid to the estate was not eligible for rollover under any circumstances. Default withholding is 10%, but that can be declined.

It depends. For tax year 2024, the penalty for underpayment of estimated tax wasn’t a flat dollar amount — it was an interest-based charge calculated on underpaid amounts for each quarter of the year. You may owe the penalty if either: You didn’t pay at least 90% of your 2024 tax liability through withholding and estimated payments, or You didn’t pay at least 100% of your 2023 tax (110% for high-income taxpayers) through withholding/estimated payments. There is no confirmation number. TurboTax does not pay any taxes owed. When you filed your state tax return the information you provided for direct debit and the date was sent with your tax return. The state will debit your account.
The bank name, routing number, account number and the date you selected for payment are on the State Information Worksheet in Part V.
To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.
This will take you back to the 2025 online tax return.
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Then click on Print Center. Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return. Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets
If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment. For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.

With that being said, I am not sure if there is a time limit for when the driver needs to elect that in order to receive a 1099-K.

I'm getting same message as of 2/13/26. Also, the same for Fidelity and Computershare. Says "Success" but nothing in Turbotax. Tried the chat and that had no clue as to what I was asking. Since the same problem is happening with multiple institutions (and big ones), most likely software glitch. Any idea of how to get someone at Turbotax to look into the program???

I was just questioning whether the estate's 1099-R form needed to go to my mom, and found that it didn't since the information necessary was included on the K-1. Thanks again.
