an interesting question! On the 2024 Form 1040, line 24 is the total tax, but in the "Payments section" just below, there can be certain credits like the earned income credit, AOC credit  and the additional child tax credit. line 37 shows the amount owed, including any 2210 penalty. So what do you regard as your tax liability? if you're are being asked that for some Form or Schedule, please provide that information because the answer may not be above.
The update to the desktop version happened over last weekend. You now can enter tips in Box 14 and define this as tips included in W2. This will deduct from the taxable amount

I just started my tax return for my S corp using Turbo Tax Business.  I've done this for years -- perhaps incorrectly.  One of the first question is about "Entities Owned".  For the past couple of years, the S corp has owned publicly traded stock in a portfolio held by Fidelity.  How should I answer the question if the corporation "ownership interest in the following entities" -- one of them being Domestic and Foreign Corporations?

You can confirm that you applied for "Pay with my Refund" in TurboTax by checking your "Order Summary" for a $0 balance. It will also show a "Paid" status. This indicates that fees were deducted from your refund.    To check your order status, you can sign in to your TurboTax account and scroll to Your tax returns & documents in the left panel of your TurboTax screen. Select the current year, and click View order details to confirm your payment method.     You will also see an additional processing fee on your final tax document. Your payment status will indicate "payment complete" because a third-party bank is managing the fee deduction.    You can review your fees in TurboTax online as follows: Go to the left side on your screen under "Tax Home" Go to "Tax Tools" then "Tools" The "Tools Center" Box will pop up Click on "My Fees" to see a summary of your Turbo Tax Fees.   You could also try calling TurboTax Customer Service: Turbo Tax Customer Service  Click here for Can I pay with my refund?   If you have additional information or questions regarding this, please return to Community and we would be glad to help.
Hello, I am using the desktop version of TurboTax and that update has not shown up yet on the desktop version. When will that be coming?

@TomG4it's probably hard to follow now in all these threads with all the complaining but latest estimate from Intuit here is Friday 20th:   "I've been advised today by management that the work on the depreciation section of TurboTax is continuing and expected to be completed with an update coming the evening of Thursday, February 19th."   IRS released instructions for this form on 2/11 so they are certifying for filing against that.  HR Block is also holding this form until end Feb.
the SC return is not adding back twice….easy to see when comparing federal to SC sate taxable income amounts, with the difference being $1500.

I have the desktop version of Turbo Tax 2025 and am in an occupation that qualifies for the new deduction for tips. My employer included my tips in box 1 but not in box 7 nor box 14. They say they will not issue a corrected w2 but instead I should use the tip figure from my last pay stub of 2025. dI saw this response to an earlier question: "Watch for the February update. TurboTax is adding a "Tipped Occupation" section that'll ask if you received tips included in Box 1 but not listed in Box 7. You’ll be able to enter the amount from your last pay stub there." When will this update be coming out for the Desktop version?
Dear sir,  If any distribution happened after the excess contribution period,   how to calculate the gain and loss? Many thanks.
TurboTax has no control over Federal or State processing of returns.  However, you can check your State status on this site: Check your state tax refund status

Did you enter in the Personal info section of TurboTax your residency information for 2025?  On the screen titled "Your info" it will have information about where you lived in 2025 - your state of Residence should be Ohio and you would also check Yes for "[name] lived in another state in 2025".  Enter the state and the date you became a resident of Ohio in 2025.   Once you enter that information, it may be best to delete the Ohio return and start over.  In the Online version, you can click on Your State Returns on the left side menu, then click the trashcan icon for Ohio, then add Ohio back using the +Add a State button.  When you go through the Interview in Ohio, you can work on the school taxes, with a school district of 9999 for your time in NC, and the 4 digit school district number for your Ohio residence.  You can edit those and make sure that the dates you enter match up with the dates you had entered in the personal info section of TurboTax.  You will also need to split your income between NC and OH to get the correct entry for the Income for the tax base of the school district.  The Ohio Gross Income that will be listed there will be you entire income for the year - you will need to split that income to determine the 2 months' worth of income that you received while in Ohio.

The only changes that OBBBA made to education was that it expanded what you can use education benefits for, allowing benefits to be used for  licenses like cosmetology, barbering, esthetics, and nail technology.  These schools are required to send a Form 1098-T, and you can also use 529-plan funds to pay for them.  There should not be any other updates that affect your entries.     FAQ: New Federal Law Expands Use of 529 Plans to Include Qualified Expenses on Credentialing Programs   If TurboTax is not letting you continue, you can try the following: Go out of your program and go back in Clear your cache and cookies Try a different Web Browser If you are using TurboTax Desktop make sure all updates have been run on your program. You can do this by clicking on "Online" in the black bar across the top of your TurboTax screen. And then select "Check for Updates". If you have any additional questions or information regarding this please return to TurboTax Community and we would be glad to help.

Many users are having difficulty importing statements from different brokerages. The number of requests at this time of the season may be overburdening the systems.   If you are having trouble importing, check your browser settings. You could try a different browser. Try Clear cache and cookies . Try exiting TurboTax, restarting your device, and logging in again.   Some users have reported success choosing Wells Fargo Clearinghouse as the source for the import for 2025. In past years the choice has been Wells Fargo Advisors.    Here's where you enter or import your 1099-B in TurboTax Online: (Note: If your TurboTax navigation looks different from what’s described here, learn more.)   Open or continue your return, if you haven't already. Select Search, enter 1099-B, and select Jump to 1099-B. You can also go to Federal, then Wages & Income, then Investments and Savings. Select Start or Revisit next to Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B). Select Okay! on the screen Time to kick off your investments! OR Yes on the screen Did you sell any of these investments? then Continue. If you see Your investments and savings or Your investment sales summary, select Add investments or Add more sales. When you reach Let's import your tax info, choose how you want to enter your 1099-B: To import your form, select your brokerage or financial institution from the list. Enter your sign-in credentials for your account, then select Get my form. If you want to enter your 1099-B manually, select Enter a different way, then select your investment type on the next screen. On the following screens, answer the questions about your 1099-B.   If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can either wait until prompted by TurboTax to import your brokerage statements (e.g., Form 1099-B or Form 1099-DIV), or you can go directly to the import feature by searching for “import” in the search box (top right in the TurboTax interface), then selecting the option to “Jump to Import.”  Here is the list of companies from which you can import. Be sure to select the correct list, W-2 or 1099/1098.   If you followed all the steps reported in this thread and are still having trouble, contact the brokerage/ other company directly.   [Edited 02/17/26| 8:43am PST] @susanbigelow  (edited)

If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.   To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings: Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL. Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu. Toggle the switch to ON. Refresh the page and attempt your import again. If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play: Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements. Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back. Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser. Helpful TurboTax Articles: What if I can't import my 1099? How can I fix my 1099 import issue? How do I import my 1099s?
