My tax is only $644 well below the $1,000. If I send in a prepayment in January, how much do I need to send in.
Some conflict here??   @ksthekid    Direct Deposit?  or paper check in the mail? And, was an actual SSA-1099 issued for 2025?

If you are asking if your state refund can be used to pay your federal tax due---no.   Federal and state returns are processed by completely separate entities.    You have to pay your federal tax due yourself.     The “summary” given to you by TurboTax must have confused you.  That summary just nets out the difference between a refund you are getting and an amount you owe.   Or it adds two refunds or tax “due” amounts together.     The federal and state treasuries are completely separate from each other.     Your state tax due cannot be paid from a federal refund.   And….your federal tax due cannot be paid from a state refund.     Neither refund can be used to pay the amount due to the other one.   If you owe tax due, you have to pay it yourself by the filing deadline on April 15, 2026.      If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.    https://www.irs.gov/payments   https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-your-taxes-by-debit-or-credit-card    https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-payments/help/how-can-i-pay-my-federal-taxes/00/26212     https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-payments/help/how-do-i-pay-my-irs-tax-due-with-a-check-or-money-order/00/26403      To apply for a payment plan with the IRS   Apply Online for a Payment Plan     You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0   WHAT IF I CANNOT PAY MY TAX DUE? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-payments/pay-taxes/L8aQBCpPO_US_en_US?uid=m9iryksw

You said: "It depends: If both of these are true,"  but then there was a bunch of stuff above that wherein it was not possible to infer the conditions.  So I'm not sure what exactly you're referring to as the criteria for needing an 8453.  If you could clarify, then I'd know what to do.
I had to go in and allow turbo tax access to the local network. All good now   I had to go into browser settings, then privacy, site permissions, all permissions, local network access
In TurboTax Desktop, go to FILE at the top, and choose 'new tax return.'   @lhead98
We are hoping by this weekend, if not before. We don't have a specific date.

MY STATE REFUND WAS LESS THAN I EXPECTED The state will send you a letter explaining the change.  TurboTax does not get any feedback from your state after your return is accepted, so no one at TT knows why your state refund was less.   Did you owe back taxes, child support, or student loans?  Traffic fines, etc.?     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0

I've spent hours getting my taxes ready, then right before I'm about to head to file them, I get hit with this:   Georgia Nonconformity to Depreciation on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act - It's telling me I have to file a Georgia Form 4562 if I want to file now, or wait for Georgia to conform, which I can't find any information about online.   I'm using Turbo Tax to simplify things, obviously, so when I opened up the Georgia Form 4562, I've completely lost my mind. I have no concept whatsoever of what this means, how to fill it out, or what to do from here.   Can anyone provide information about what I need to do? Is Georgia expected to conform to this sometime soon so I can meet the April 15 deadline, or am I just going to be forced to pay someone to figure out what on earth this form does and how to fill it out?    Apologies for my tone. I'm just livid that this can't just be a straightforward process.

That is actually an option in the FILE section.   You can choose to e-file federal and mail the state.   But you will still have to pay for the software you used to prepare the state return.   It is not free to print it and mail it if you used a paid version of the software to prepare your federal return.

No, your income is reported in the year you received it.    Social Security benefits are treated on a cash-basis, taxable when received.   The only social security benefits you have to enter into TurboTax are the benefits that get reported to you on Form SSA-1099.   If you do not get that form, you do not enter the benefits on your tax return.

Did you e-file your state tax return and was it accepted? You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".   After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.   Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.   To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product. If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...
