"What were your Roth IRA contributions prior to 2025?" - We do not know. Did I choose the wrong answer in prior windows or is there a way to find this answer?   Because your husband is over age 59½ and you indicated that he had met the 5-year holding requirement for qualified Roth IRA distributions, there is no need for TurboTax to even be asking that question.  It doesn't matter what amount you enter because it has no bearing on determining the taxable amount of the distribution.  Because it is a qualified distribution, it is tax-free and is not to be reported on Form 8606 Part III.
I don't know whether both of these apply or just one. On the 1099R the "IRA/SIMPLE/SEP" box is checked.   Thanks, Mike

VERY helpful, thank you!  Been dumped to that screen showing various existing 1099-INT, -DIV...etc forms and i just gave up. Did not make sense to me - based on how it worked before.  Agree with your comment about the interview flow/layout 100%.  Its not like we use this everyday, TT needs better focus groups, including current users!  Thanks again.
There is the same problem with 1099 DIV, Int, and B. If you have more than one account, it overwrites the first one.
I appreciate the information. It took my information and filled in numbers in the right spot. Thanks!
My desktop premier said that a new tool will be available.  Is it available now?  If not, when?

@wong1021 wrote:  The pdf I downloaded from Turbotax does not contained summary pages, e-file instruction or refund account information etc as you stated In my 2024 turbotax app, I checked the e-file status, it said IRS accepted all my fed and states returns. What do you mean by 'app"--are you referring to the mobile app on a phone or tablet?   I don't use that, so I can't speak to that..  The information I provided above was for Online TurboTax, which if you are using the mobile app, you  should also be able to access on a computer with a browser.   So look in Online TurboTax with the steps I originally provided.   However, if by "app" you meant the desktop software, then that would change the whole game.   When using Online TurboTax (not the mobile app), at the Tax Home when you go to the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents" and choose 2024, it should show if the 2024 return was accepted, rejected, started, printed, etc.   It's in the same place where you find the 2024 PDF to download.   If it says "accepted" there, then that's the same account that was used to file the return.  It's confusing, however, why the 2024 PDF (if it was downloaded in that section) does not contain the Electronic Postmark, Filing Instructions page, etc.   I can tell you how to look for multiple accounts in case you missed one.   If you need further help after that, you'll need to phone the people at TurboTax Customer Support to help you in realtime and to see if they have any explanation.  I'll provide their contact info below.     How to look for multiple accounts: To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop.  Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below.  You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method: Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.   Contact TurboTax Hours 5AM-9PM Pacific, 7 days a week https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/contact/

It is Feb. and the 1099 information is available to import but TurboTax is not working properly. When I attempt to import a second 1099 from a brokerage, it overwrites the first one. I have tried entering as a new account and that doesn't work either. I have used Turbo Tax for MANY years and have never had this problem. That is wrong with TurboTax this year????

This account was permitted to be moved only by nonreportable trustee-to-trustee transfer to the inherited IRA.  If the check was made out to the new inherited IRA, the S&L mistakenly generated a Form 1099-R (which is not uncommon because bank front office representatives are notoriously inadequately trained in such matters).   If instead the check was made out you you personally, no rollover to the Merrill Lynch account was permitted and the deposit into that account represents an excess contribution that is subject to penalty unless corrected by a return of contribution.  TurboTax is programmed to know that a distribution paid to a non-spouse beneficiary is not eligible for rollover, so TurboTax will not permit you to indicate that the distribution was rolled over.
Data entered as suggested and it goes to a schedule E. However page 2 section 4 shows the $ value in red and next to the forms list it has a red !.  The information does not flow to 1040 line 8.

Now with all the back and forth trying to get TT to accept qualified educational expenses other than tuition, I have somehow ended up with the answer to this question (line 4 on Student Info worksheet) as Yes and can't change it.  It's N/A on her People worksheet.  Doesn't seem to make a difference in our tax - but would an undergrad check Yes or No for this (line 3, was she enrolled in a degree program, is Yes on both worksheets)?

If you have personal property tax paid to a county in Arkansas that is based on the value of the vehicle, it would be deductible on your Arkansas return, while the registration fees and tags would not be deductible.   If you go back to your Arkansas return, when you click through the screens, you will get to a screen called "Vehicle Registration Fees/Tags and Personal Property Taxes".  The bottom box for Non-deductible personal property taxes will be filled in - to make this amount deductible, you can enter a 0 here and the full amount of personal property tax claimed on your Federal tax return will now appear on your Arkansas return.  If the amount wasn't fully deductible, you can enter the non-deductible part here.
TurboTax discontinued ItsDeductible after October 2025.

I have tried numerous times to import information from a brokerage account into Turbo Tax. When I attempt to download the second account information, it overwrites the first account information. I have never had this problem before in all the years I have used TurboTax. There were other issues with TurboTax this year, 2025 downloaded Windows 11 but I figured the workaround. I can't hand enter all of that information. Please fix this.
