Use the address that you want the IRS to use if they need to mail you a letter or a check. The old address on the W-2 is fine. The IRS is aware that people move.

Just think about it for a minute. You can’t deduct something you never included in your income in the first place.

I completed my 2025 Pennsylvania tax return and ran Turbotax's State review. TT says I have to fill in some missing information. TT took me to form PA-40 titled: "Gross Compensation Worksheet." TT states the following information is missing from column headings "T/S" and "PA Taxable Comp." Regarding the column heading T/S, there's a drop down arrow that gives you the option of selecting Taxpayer or Spouse and for the column PA Taxable Comp., requires some dollar amount. I'm at a loss as to where I would get this information. Furthermore, this information should have transferred from my Federal Return. So can anyone advise me on how to resolve these 2 issues? Thanks I looked at the Gross Compensation Worksheet form as part of my 2024 PA return and both columns were blank and I didn't have any unresolved errors. So why now?

Part IV of the Student Info worksheet says you can't enter information there (you can, but sometimes it gets changed). It says to use the People worksheet for the student instead - there's even a QuickZoom link to that worksheet so you don't have to scroll to the bottom of Forms to get there. I haven't had a problem with TT changing my information after I entered Room and Board in the student's People Worksheet. But you have to go to the Forms, which users are reporting is not possible in the Online version. There is no interview process asking about qualified educational expenses. There is supposedly a fix (for the desktop version? Or online as well?) coming out tomorrow.

Instead of the icon can you launch it this way? After it's installed, can you launch it by going to the Windows start menu and in the presented list of programs selecting to launch TurboTax 2025 there? Or have you tried right-clicking on the TurboTax desktop icon and in the popup going to Properties then Compatibility and choosing "Run this program as an administrator?"

Line 33 should be MIN (Line 20, Line 32). Instead on Form 1116 ALT is 0.

What version of TurboTax are you taking these screen captures from? It does not match my Premier 2025, and when I say "no" to the question regarding 1099-R's, TurboTax exits the 1099-R section completely and brings me back to the full "Wages & Income" tab and list of topics.

I have the same issue. My summary page includes a line for Canadian Registered Pension Income. It's zero, but seem inappropriate to have any country listed when none apply to me. Canada is random. I tried the update button and pressed the "delete" button. After confirming deletion, the line still exists. I tried the advice in this thread to find the "Form" and delete it, but there is no form. Perhaps a bug in Turbo Tax? Maybe a future update will correct this. If there is more I can do, please advise. Thank you.

The financial institution that handles your retirement account can give you that amount. Usually you can find it on their website. Or call them.

Indeed! I cannot submit my return because Form 1116 ALT Line 33 reports 0 instead of the minimum between Line 20 and Line 32. Form 1116 regular is correct instead.

loaded Turbo Tax about a month ago, entered most of my data. Today, 2/12/2026 it would not open. When click on the Icon, it flickers the Blue Turbo Tax Logo, but does not open. I tried reloading the program using the Repair Option, went thru the loading, but still will not open. Then Deleted the App, and tried reloading and got the same results. Deleted cookies and cashes, tried loading again, still would not open, just flickered blue logo.
Any other suggestions? Computer Microsoft Surface ARM chipset, Windows 11

Thank you for the response. I do qualify for the FEIE with foreign self-employment income. And my rent is > $20,800. But apparently since the rent I pay is technically not a "Housing Allowance", unfortunately there is no Housing Deduction. (Unless my income would exceed the FEIE max of ~$130k). I could be wrong, but that's how the math looks to me.

For what purpose? What are you trying to do? You cannot get any sort of deduction for improvements to your own home. Save your invoices for someday when you sell the house.

FORM 1116 AMT. Line 33 should be the minimum of Line 20 or Line 32. However, it reports 0.

@shleffarj wrote: Turbotax says I dont have filing history for 2024 (I have emails from Turbotax immediately after filing). I need this info to access last years 1040 to do carryover loss My filing info from last year is missing. Prior years we could just enter carryover loss and now I cannot I assume you are talking about Online TurboTax. Any return prepared in desktop software will not be in an Online account. So are you logging into Online TurboTax and selecting the Tax Home tab in the left menu column, and at the Tax Home scrolling way down the Tax Home screen to the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents", and when you select tax year 2024, there is no evidence that you prepared a 2024 return in that account? You may have multiple accounts. You can't necessarily tell the account log-in ID from the email, since an email address for notifications can be used for more than 1 account (up to 5), but each User ID has to be unique. How to look for multiple accounts: You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes. A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be. It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all. To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below. When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it. After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop. Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below. You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access, here's another method: Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.

Hi Marilyn, Thanks for the workarounds - they all make sense, except that I don't think an outcome that triggers the retirement savers credit is proper. Let me restate my question - when it is actually going to be FIXED, so that workaround are not necessary. Clearly TT is aware of the problem - is it on a release schedule to be addressed? Given that the 2025 Pub 970 is not even released in final form yet, thinking there is still an IRS dependency here? Please address the release schedule. Thanks
