Where your income statements go once uploaded depends for the most part on what type of income is being reported. For instance, Forms 1099-INT would report interest income, which would belong on the personal section of your tax return. A Form 1099-NEC would report business income and as such would normally be assigned to a business Schedule C.
Since you are concerned about reports from financial institutions, I assume you are talking about interest, dividends, and investment sale gains and losses. They would all normally be reported as non-business income on your tax return so TurboTax would treat them as such as a default. So for the most part, you should not have to do any further allocating. However, before you submit your tax return, you should review it to make sure all income and deductions are on the proper forms and schedules.

An error occurs during the Georgia State Review at the "Income and Retirement Worksheets" form. On this form under "Income" line 7D says, "Other Subtraction #7 withdrawals with GA/Fed tax difference" the State Review ends and asks one to enter a number. Shouldn't TurboTax fill in this information automatically by asking the needed question or getting this information from already asked questions? I do not know what is being asked by line 7D so I do not know what to manually enter. Thanks for the help.

I use both Turbo Tax Premier and Business- TT is using different 1099 INT forms for the 2 programs- the 1099 INT Premier form has the box to subtract the accrued Interest Paid- TT Business software's 1099INT form as no similar space to make the subtraction? So how do you subtract out the accrued interest paid when preparing a Trust 1041 Return without using the override and forcing an error thus no electronic filing- Seems like something TT could resolve on its most expensive software and start using the Import feature available on its less expensive products

The IRS instructions state that if a 529 distribution total is not more than the beneficiary's qualified education expenses, you do not need to report the 1099-Q on your tax return. This is mentioned in Publication 970, Chapter 7, under the heading "Are Distributions Taxable." You and your granddaughter should keep the 1099-Q form and receipts for tuition paid for at least 3 years in case the IRS audits you. You don't need to enter them into tax software if the money was used for tuition. If you have entered the 1099-Q, you can delete it from your return. Here is the best way to do this. Tax Tools Tools Delete a form Delete form 1099Q If working in Desktop, go to the forms mode. Locate form 1099Q, select it, and then delete it at the bottom of the form when it appears in the right pane of your screen

yeah i'm in the same boat. First i was told that it's ready and that i should clear my cookies and cache. After wasting a morning doing that, i called and an agent made me wait 30mins before declaring that it will be fixed by Feb 11th if not sooner. And of course, today is Feb 11 and it's still not working. From the comment here, it looks like it's now Friday 13th before it's ready. Don't hold your breath, this seems to be a moving target. Not cool.

You can use "Other-not classified" . For the most part, box 14 is informational only, and does not directly affect your return. Although in some cases it can, like with the No Tax on Overtime. This is where you enter it to trigger the OT questions in TurboTax. The best thing to do is to ask your employer what it is for. It could be pretax health benefits, but only they would know for sure.

Thank you so much for this new information and for being so helpful with this whole issue. I re-filed once again right after I received your message yesterday. I did not get any type of notification -- no text, no e-mail, no nothing. However, I signed in again this morning and it says that my state return was accepted yesterday 2/10. So hopefully third time was a charm. Thank you again!

I issued a 1099-DIV to someone that was incorrect. The correct amount for the 1099-DIV is zero, but the Intuit Quick Employer Forms does not allow me to correct the 1099-DIV with a zero dividend amount. I tried to cancel the 1099-DIV, but am not sure whether this actually canceled the electronic submission to the IRS or not. How can I correct the 1099-DIV and how can I check that the IRS received the correction? Thanks for your help.
