In my case I had to lower the amounts on boxes 1, 3, 5, and 16 from my W2 so my reported income fell below our limit for EIC. After answering the EIC questions, I went back and corrected the W2 amounts, and thankfully the US residence box was checked. I also reviewed every page on the final forms to make sure nothing else was changed after that hassle 🙄 I'd keep track of your federal and state return/owed amounts before changing any income to make sure they're still the same afterwards, since the only goal here is to check the new box on page 1 of 1040. It's annoying, but the EIC section seems to do the trick. It (kinda) makes sense with the instructions for 1040 stating: Main home was in the U.S. If your main home (and spouse if filing a joint return) was in the U.S. for over half of 2025, check the box on the front of Form 1040 or 1040-SR. Providing this information will help the IRS determine your eligibility for certain tax benefits, including the earned income credit.

My wife had a savings bond which she purchased in 1978. The POD was her mom (who passed away in 2013). My wife did not have the physical bond so we went through the process of contacting the folks who handle Treasury Direct. Long story short we submitted all the necessary documents and paperwork to redeem this bond. Late last year we had a deposit from "TREAS" into our account for something like $150 or so. We never got any type of email or snail mail confirmation that the bond was redeemed. My question is will we ever get a 1099? I would like to complete my taxes as soon as possible so getting this information may take some time. For what it's worth, I cashed a few bonds last year and my 1099 is already in my Treasury Direct account. Can I just report the difference between what was deposited into my account and the bonds face value?

Did you ever get a 1099-R for the FERS contribution refund? I’m in a similar boat. I got a 1099-R but it only shows my taxable interest in Box 1 as the gross distribution. It makes no mention of the refund of my actual contributions. I find that confusing.

You should have emails about this. TurboTax has no information about your approvals or refund advance amounts.

I have the QMID, but when I enter the number, I get a review message, and no matter how I enter the number I can't get the review to clear.

You cannot set up an automatic payment for a 2024 return in 2025. You will need to make your IRS payment via a different method.

@jcollinsfred In the Additional property taxes field...the one that won't let you edit it. ...is there already a $0 showing there (or a $0.00)? or is it blank? _______________________ If it has a $0 (or $0.00) in it...then there is likely a "Supporting Documents" worksheet attached to the field. To access it in that case, try a double-click on the $0 to bring up that worksheet. ..............if double-click doesn't work, click on the field, then go up to the top "Edit " menu item add click on "Add Supporting Details". from the dropdown list That should bring up the worksheet....then either use the worksheet to add your $$...or click on the big red X to delete the worksheet entirely, and the normal entry in the interview will be restored (and you won't be annoyed with it next year)

Turbotax business has this glitch and I believe they need to fix it. New assets that are added to rental property are not being transferred to the balance sheet. When will this be fixed? We should be able to expect that the product works and it does not. Tracking this issue down has cost me some serious time.

When experiencing this issue we recommend double-checking that the correct two-letter state code was entered. Zip Code Invalid for Efiling.
If this doesn't resolve the issue can you try deleting an re-entering the information? And as a last resort, uploading the 1098 into the system?
