MY RETURN IS IN PENDING—what does that mean?   You will not get any information from the IRS refund site while your return is in pending.  The IRS does not have your return yet.   Did you e-file?  Did you click that big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”  If so, your return is now in “pending” on a server.  Do not try to change anything while your return is in pending. On January  26  the IRS will begin to accept/reject e-files.  The IRS accepts a FEW returns in test batches ahead of January 26—-but that is very random.   Watch your emails—including your spam folder—for the notice about whether your e-file has been accepted or rejected.  If your return is rejected you will be able to make corrections before re-filing.   If the return you e-filed is accepted you will have to wait until it has been fully processed and then amend it to fix any mistakes or omissions.  It has been taking the IRS four to six months—sometimes longer—to process amended returns.   If you e-filed your state return there will be another email later that tells you if the state was accepted or rejected.   WARNING:   Do not try to change anything on your return while it is pending.   https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-announces-first-day-of-2026-filing-season-online-tools-and-

And....if your return is accepted and you incorrectly claimed the children --- alert the other parent asap because when they try to e-file, their return claiming the children is going to be rejected and cause issues for them.   They will either need to file by mail or maybe get IP PIN's from the IRS for the kids in order to be able to e-file now.
What if it is still pending through Turbo Tax?

Yes. Your letters should be explaining your two types of Overtime pay. USPS pays overtime when you work more than 8 hours in a day. This is not the usual. The fair labor standards act (FLSA) requires overtime pay after 40 hours of work in a week. You may have earned overtime during a week where you worked less than 40 hours. This overtime does not count for the new deduction on overtime since only overtime under the FLSA qualify.   For the OT deduction, you may need to contact HR to determine which amount is for hours worked over 40 that include OT vs the OT at less than 40 hours a week. Your letters may state the difference.

Once a tax return has been filed it cannot be changed, canceled or retrieved You will have to wait for the IRS to either Accept or Reject your filed federal tax return. If the return is rejected you can make the necessary changes and e-file again. If the return is accepted you will have to amend your original tax return. An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return. Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS. See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a current year tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-federal-tax-return-current-year/L7eS6o1qh_US_en_US?uid=lfunevhk

It can be a bit tricky creating the timeline string of multiple 1098's in TurboTax.  If you're using TurboTax Online, I would suggest deleting the 1098's, clear your Cache and Cookies, and in the 1098 section, start with the oldest 1098 first for the home you sold.  Be sure to enter mortgage balance as $0, with the original Loan Origination Date and don't check (or uncheck)  Box 7.     Enter the earliest 1098 for the new house next, with a loan balance and origination date.  For the 1098's for the new home, these may all be the same.  Check Box 7 on these to indicate they all belong to your new home.  Here's detailed info on Multiple Mortgage Interest Statements.   Unless you received a 1099-S, you don't need to report the sale of your old home, unless you had over 500K in profit (MFJ).  Here's more info on the Home Sale Exclusion and Form 1099-S.       @stark-josh15

Not my first rodeo. My daughter is my dependent and I have been claiming HOH for over 10 years using the web version of TurboTax. I am divorced but provide over 1/2 of her expenses and she is with me over 1/2 the year. Unless there is an option to switch to HOH at the point of filing, which would be different from past years, the software is incorrectly defaulting me to Single filing status, costing me thousands. If this isn't corrected, I will be filing with another company.
@user17691893285 There is not a TurboTax Basic desktop edition for tax year 2025 for US tax returns - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/
A single-member LLC is treated as a disregarded entity for federal income tax purposes and you would report on Schedule C of your 1040 as a result.   Therefore, no final filing would be due.

Nope.  Tried that.  Tried again, and again, and again.  The phone tree allows you to press button-choices, but no matter where I try as I navigate down the phone tree, I don't think there is any actual place to issue a voice prompt.  I tried anyway, but all I got was a lecture about how windows 10 support was ending.

You say that you received a 1099-R with a code of 4, made out to your father's estate? May I assume that this was the balance of a 401(k) that was not paid out to any beneficiaries (so to the estate)?   Did you enter this 1099-R into the estate return? It is not clear to me what you did. I would presume (not having tested it recently) that TurboTax Business would correctly handle any 1099-Rs entered into an estate return.

This article will help you download any data you had in ItsDeductible (if used previously or during the year before it was shut down in October).   There will be a new tool that replaces ItsDeductible and its expected to be available the end of February or beginning of March. This is just an estimate and I would assume we will find out more as time goes on. At this time, this is all the information we were given.
