When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

I want to withdraw from 529 to reduce the account balance.  But I don't know if it is better for tax benefit to choose me (account owner) or my son (beneficiary) as recipient for the distribution. The situation is: My son has excess scholarship that covers all qualified expenses. Scholarship = $40,000. Qualified expenses = $25000 (room & board not included here) He had a summer internship $10,000 (don't know if this will be a W-2 or 1099-MISC) and an on-campus part time job ($1200 on W-2)  My income is too high for education credits I want to withdraw from 529 for $12000 to cover room & board. And also a large amount comparable to the scholarship. I know the scholarship equivalent will be subjected to income tax but not 10% penalty. My question is if I should choose myself or my son as the 529 distribution recipient.
Not true.  TT 2025 (updated 12/18) won't even let you input the data for the rent section AND worse yet it indicates that won't be ready to Feb.  NOT ACCEPTABLE!

You can't efile 2024 or prior original or amended returns.  But if the IRS  didn't get your original return you don't amend it.  Just fix the original return and mail it.     How did you amend it?  Using the Online version or the Desktop program?  To get back the original return you would have to open the amended return and delete the 1040X and take out any changes and put your return back to the original return.  Then print and mail the original.
How do you enable or disable automatic document linking?
Can someone tell me if I finished my taxes
I have contacted IRS who confirm that this is possible. I am unable to reach Intuit customer care by phone because the automated system is inadequate to look up my account.
You will need to submit a Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund to get a replacement refund - https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-3911

Yes, but we pay for clothes with money we earned and pay SALES tax not income tax. That’s why this doesn’t make sense. They should explain it better BEFORE accepting the invite. I was told tax and since it’s a purchased item that my income didn’t pay for and we were told they are free except for the tax, of course I thought SALES tax, not income tax. We can’t spend the products we get so how is that income? We are not even supposed to give them away or sell them for at least from the time each item is purchased. I still do not see how this STUFF is income if unspent and also some unusable! I completely agree sales tax should be covered but if we have to pay both income and sales tax. This program is completely not worth it except in rare instances where you get a very expensive item you need for a fraction of the cost. And it’s extremely true that they jack up the EVA and right after you get it, you’ll see it listed for MUCH less!! That is bait and switch and false business tactics!! Why are we paying more tax on items that aren’t worth what they told us they were?? This needs to be handled in a better way! And Canadians have income tax yet they are not required to pay tax on Amazon Vine items. They are completely free!! How is that?
TurboTax only retains online tax returns for the past 7 years, the same retention period as the IRS.  The 2018 tax return is no longer available.
