Prior tax debt from 2019 and 2021 when married, were on a payment plan with IRS 500$ a month, lived separately all of 2024, divorced December 2024. Out divorce agreement included us filing single for 2024. He made much more than me last year as I was out of work for 6 months. My tax refund was a little over 8k unsure of his tax refund. If we divided the remainder of our tax debt I would owe a little over 6k however the IRS took my whole return. I should have close to 2k returned as overpayment. In speaking to a representative at the IRS I was told I could file a 8379 and maybe also 8359. However it says if you did not file jointly you cannot complete this form. Now of course we filed jointly for prior years however this past year that is in question was single. What should I do to ensure my portion of my taxes are considered paid off and get the remainder I’m due? Thanks!!

You are too late to e-file a federal  extension request.  If you wanted more time -- beyond May 1 -- you should have filed your federal extension request by April 15, 2025.   The IRS will recognize your automatic extension to May 1 by the zip code on your tax return.   If you are getting a refund or do not owe tax due, there is no penalty if you file later than May 1.   If you owe federal tax due, pay by midnight May 1 to avoid penalties.

As a pass-through entity, the LLC is not required to pay state income tax. Tax paid under the LLC's tax id will be credited to the owners of the LLC. Depending on the state, you may need to include the tax payment on the K-1 from the LLC.   When you complete the state income tax interview for your personal return, look for questions under the K-1 topic that relate to tax paid on your behalf by the LLC.   Note that the LLC may need to pay franchise tax to the state, which is not the same thing.

We cannot see your tax return so we do not know who "Lori" is---but, assuming she is your spouse on a joint tax return, you can enter anything you want to use for "occupation".  The IRS does not use that for anything that affects your refund or tax due. Occupation is used only for statistical purposes.
If you click on the state, the information from your federal return should repopulate to the federal side.  Then you can walk back through the state questions to complete the state return.

What steps have you taken to get the W-2 from that employer?   You do not need a "2025" W-2---You need your 2024 W-2 to prepare a 2024 tax return.    Some employers have payroll sites that will have your W-2. You might need to phone, drop in, email and/or snail mail an old employer to make sure they know where to send your W-2.   TurboTax does not have your W-2.   W-2’s come from employers.      You can get a wage and income transcript from the IRS:  It will not show the actual W-2, 1099’s, etc, but will show the income information the IRS received.  It will not, however, show your state information. It will only show the federal information. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript     https://www.irs.gov/help-resources/tools-faqs/faqs-for-individuals/frequently-asked-tax-questions-answers/irs-procedures/transcript-or-copy-of-form-w-2/transcript-or-copy-of-form-w-2     https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/income/help/what-if-it-s-february-but-i-still-don-t-have-my-w-2/00/25998
Generally no.  This would not be considered self-employment income, and subject to SE taxes if this was a one time study and not your primary source of income.
If you did not file a joint return when you were married, you are not responsible for your spouses tax liability.   Please provide more details as to why this is your situation?

Yes, you have until May 1st to file your extension if you are in a federally declared disaster area whose tax deadline was moved until May 1.   However, you cannot e-file this.  Form 4868 must be printed and mailed at this point. You can pay directly via the IRS website which is the recommended way or you can pay by check.

Are you looking at your tax return or somewhere else? If looking at your tax return is your number on line 14 is $12,918 and the number on line 15 is $524? If you are not looking at the actual form, and just looking at your refund, it is possible that you have some sort of tax credit on line 16 of your return.  This would explain the difference.

TurboTax recognizes a $2,000 traditional IRA contribution through the entry of the original $2,000 Roth IRA contribution and the user indicates that $2,000 was "switched" (recharacterized) to be a traditional IRA contribution instead.  This also causes TurboTax to prompt for the entry of the explanation statement required for the recharacterization.  Entering the code-N Form 1099-R contributes nothing to the tax return other than producing a corresponding increase in the amount on Form 1099-R line 4a.
