I completed and filed my 2024 return using the E-File option in TurboTax Premier on 3/15/25.  From that action I got a "E-File Pin".    Since I have not received my refund, I checked on the IRS website and the response was that the information entered "did not match their records".  So, my question is "have you gotten any other questions about the E-File option not working as expected?"        I think that checking with you is faster that having to go the the IRS.      Thank you!
1. That is correct. 2. Schedule A.  If you can't itemize then it is not a deduction for the year. 3. No, the partnership does that.   @nancywho

This morning I was prompted to complete my 2024 tax return. I was sure I had already efiled on the 13th of April. After going through the system and my return I was once again prompted to e file.  Now I just found the efile confirmation from the 13th. How do I cancel the second transmittle?

Form 1099-B was downloaded from Vanguard into Turbo Tax.  TT generated a form 8949 and entered results on Schedule D Lines 1b & 8b.  TT also entered the same numbers on Lines 1a & 8a and totaled the two making the results double what they should be.  How can I remove the entries from Lines 1a & 8a so the total will be correct?

TurboTax transfers data from your federal return to your state return. Before you begin troubleshooting your state return, go back through your federal return and enter your real estate taxes there.  After you review your federal return, select the State Taxes tab and review the state section. Pay close attention to the information, especially if you have made changes to your federal return. There might be new sections that need to be completed.  Where do I enter my real estate (property) taxes in TurboTax?   Troubleshooting common federal to state transfer issues

You are in about the same position either way. You pay New Jersey income tax on the money you earn for working in New Jersey. Since you live in New York, New York taxes all of your income, no matter where the income is from. But you get a credit on your New York tax return (the "resident credit") for the tax that you pay to New Jersey. Since New York tax rates are higher than New Jersey, the combined amount that you end up paying to both states is equal to the New York tax rate on your income.

@davehoff  wrote: I E-Filed my 2024 return and received a confirmation code. You don't get a "confirmation code" when you e-file. You get an email saying that your tax return was sent (transmitted). Then sometime later you get another email telling you that your tax return was accepted (or rejected). Did you get either of those emails? Is the confirmation code for paying your TurboTax fees? Paying the fees does not file your tax return. You have to continue through the e-filing screens until you get to the screen with a big orange button that says "Transmit my returns now," and click that button. Did you do that?

No, they are not funds for healthcare insurance, it is funds coming from a union that covers healthcare workers. It does not appear as though it has anything to do with the government. This is for healthcare workers, not federal employees.  The 1199SEIU Funds began with the Local 1199 Benefit Plan. Formed in 1945, its goal was to provide basic health, disability and life insurance benefits to just 300 New York City retail drugstore workers with employer-paid contributions. In 1948, the Benefit Fund became self-insured and self-administered. Since then, the Fund has continued to grow, providing the infrastructure to support additional benefit funds that provide coverage for healthcare workers throughout the industry in hospitals, nursing homes and home care agencies.

Then which "distribution" do I choose? The App asked 401k, IRA etc. Can I choose "none"? Thanks.  What do you get from the gov?  Do you get Social Security or SS Disability or ssi or a SSA-1099 form?   For SS or a SSA-1099,  If it's asking for an EIN number you are entering it in the wrong place. There is no EIN on social security SSA-1099. Delete it and enter it here, Enter a SSA-1099, SSA-1099-SM or RRB-1099 under Federal tab (Personal for Home&Business) Wages and Income Then scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security Then the second line - Social Security (SSA-1099. RRB-1099) - click the Start or Revisit button

Thanks. I was doing this until I noticed on Desktop it had a 8995A and my actual return had an 8995 so that’s confusing me now. My original return has a simplified version and the Desktop version has the smart version under schedule C and I can’t figure out how to translate from the original.
I live in NY while working in NJ. Am i at a disadvantage from a tax perspective when compared to if i was living in NY while working in NY at the same salary.
Thanks, Leticia,   Only took 90 minutes, most of it waiting for a live human.   (There ought to be a function map of the auto-concierge options.  Took several attempts to find the correct one.)

No, as I said above  after you delete  the 1040X you have to manually take out the changes and put your return back to the way it was when you originally filed it.  If you don't remember what you changed you will have to look at a copy of your real return to see what is different now.  Then when each line is the same as you originally filed you can amend.   You can use the Forms mode to put your return back.
