No, the Qualified Business Income (QBI) deduction generally requires the rental activity to qualify as a trade or business under IRS rules. Since you use the single-family home personally part-time (only in summer) and report the rental income on Schedule E, it likely doesn't qualify as a trade or business for QBI purposes. The IRS excludes rental properties used as a residence by the taxpayer part of the year from the QBI safe harbor. Also, to qualify as a trade or business, rental real estate enterprises must meet criteria such as maintaining separate books, performing at least 250 hours of rental services, and keeping detailed service records. Because you use the property personally and haven't taken this deduction before, it's unlikely that your rental income qualifies for the QBI deduction under current IRS guidelines.   Please refer to IRS Notice 2019-07.

We'd love to help you complete your tax return, but need more information. Can you please clarify your question?   You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

No, you will not be asked if the amount in Box 2 on your Form 1099-R is the correct taxable amount. Box 2 on a Form 1099-R is the taxable amount as determined by the broker who issued the statement. TurboTax will start with that as the taxable amount but take into consideration the codes entered in box 7 and your answer to other questions in the section where you entered the Form 1099-R before making a final judgement.

I am having the same issue with 17 a-c all checked 'no' on form despite my answers in interview. Using online TT, tried deleting form and starting new, nothing has worked. Wasted time on phone with customer service, they keep pushing back the date it will be fixed. Won't be using TT next year after all this frustration.

I spent four hours on the phone with Brandy at TT.  Although no one wants to be on the phone that long, Brandy was very helpful and patient and along with her supervisor, went through various items to determine what the problem was. It turns out that the TT Home and Business software that I purchased for 2025, I purchased from SoftwareDiscountUSA.com, who apparently is not an authorized TT vendor and according to TT, they received various complaints about them and the TT software that they are selling. TT gave me a new Home and Business software with a new license free of charge, and because it did come from TT, this version worked, I was able to file my taxes with my credit card and since I also had to buy a second state program, I was also able to do that without any problems. Thank you TT and Brandy.
Not all instances have been resolved for form 5695. If you are claiming a credit for an external door, you will need to wait until March 13 and try filing again.

Thank you for the reply. However, I still can’t make this work. There are no forms called Charitable Contributions Worksheet or the Schedule A Worksheet. I’m current with program updates for TurboTax Home & Business. The WinPer Release is 025.000.0273.   These are the form options I have:   “Schedule A” A bunch of “Charitable Org (name of charity)” forms “Cash Contrib” Several “Contrib Wks (name of charity)” forms “Charity Contrib” I’ve also tried using the Data Source option for the totals that flow to the Schedule A.   I can get to the Edit tab for each of the forms listed above, but in each case the Sort Table option isn’t active.   Do you have any other suggestions?   Thank you,   ReelDeal

Our non-dependent son was on our ACA plan 1/1/25 - 6/30/25, he files his own taxes. We received 1 1095-A that shows the three covered individuals, our son 1/1-6/30 and the two of us 1/1-12/31. Our part 3 values changed when our son left the policy. We chose an agreed upon % of 33 and 67%.  I entered our son as January - June for the coverage and input our portion of the shared policy as 67%, I don't see an option to increase our % to 100% for July - December.  I checked on forms 1095-A and 8862 and do not see a way to divide the percentages.   Do we need to do anything else to the 1095-A or does the software do the calculations for our costs during the July - December time frame.   Another question is why does the 'get help with this' on the 'What's your portion of this shared policy' page state that the 'Your SLCSP %' is usually left blank?
I went through all the steps and just prior to submitting, when looking over the info one last time, it opened my actual federal return and lists a different amount due.
any resolution on your end yet?    I'm still waiting on response.
No and no other responses.     Sigh.....  I'm going to have to pick a different software just to get my taxes done.   Very disappointed in this software.

Thanks for the fast reply!  To be clear, there is nothing for me to do except resubmit the form after hitting the "Fix the error" button.  There are no numbers to correct or boxes to check or uncheck, correct?  (my error code was F1040-478)

My 1099-B from Vanguard has a couple regular stock sales, but also 12 entries for "ISHS GOLD TRUST" (one for each month of last year), each about 3-5 bucks. Here's an example of January...   ISHS GOLD TRUST ETF / CUSIP: [removed] / Symbol: IAU / Note: CL 01/31/25 0.000 3.38 N/A ... ... ... Principal payment 16 Cost Basis Factor: 0.464285204   Column 1d is about 3-5 bucks for each month. Quantity is 0.000 for all. Date acquired is "N/A" for all. All other columns "--". Grand total for all 12 months of $50.06. *note I didn't actually sell any of my IAU this year, so I'm assuming these are some form of dividends?   TT is complaining that all 12 months need review. I edited January, it flagged in red the following...   - Sales section (I selected "Unknown term basis not reported to IRS") - What type of investment did you sell (I selected collectible, is that correct?) - Select the information type you see in Box 1b: (The "Date acquired" for all months is "N/A", I purchased this etf 6+ years ago btw, so I selected "Something other", and in the dropdown selected "-Blank-"). - Box 1e - Cost or other basis (1e is all "--", so I left it blank and checked the "The cost basis is incorrect or missing on my 1099‑B" check box)   Once those 4 red fields were edited, I clicked continue. However, at the end of the Wizard I got a red warning saying "We still need some required info." with the option to yes/no I need to adjust my cost basis. It's still "--" on the 1099-B, so I said "No, I don't need to adjust my cost basis".   Back at the review screen, it still shows the entry for January as "Needs Review". What the heck?   I have tried uploading the form directly AND providing my Act# and Document ID. Both have the same issue. I imagine a lot of people hold IAU at Vanguard. There has to be an easier/smarter way for TT to handle this...

Can you use the tab key to get there?
I have more than one RMD 1099R -- they all show up but the value from  only RMD is being used in Tax calculations.   When will this be fixed?
