I am trying to file my return, but I am getting told I owe Georgia state tax when the Other State Tax Credit should make my state tax = 0$. I paid more in out of state tax than the tax I would have had to pay in Georgia so I should pay 0 in Georgia State tax with the other state tax credit, but it is not being properly calculated. How do I fix this issue?    I am currently in Spain so I can not call the support number and use the free version so live chat is not an option.

I was able to resolve the issue! Called support.    First they had me close turbo tax desktop app. Download and run this Link to TurboTax Page    Remove just the problematic state.   Close that out. Reopen Turbo Tax Desktop app.   It had me redownload stuff. But Same issue (adding steps in case it helps others)   What I think helped was me adding the billing info on intuit portal: https://accounts.intuit.com/app/account-manager/paymentMethods I didnt have a payment method. Make sure to add shipping and billing address! Tried logging in and out, restarting PC, closing and open Turbo Tax software. Still didn't work. Called support, and they bought the state thing for me $45 plus tax (ofc). Since I had the payment method on the portal they just asked for the cvv. Closed Turbo tax and reopenned it, one download later and bingo!  Also the state wasn't in the dropdown anymore. instead there was a new box area and I checked the checkbox and clicked Continue and it allowed me to start filling for that State. The state refund automatically appeared as well.    So def a problem with the billing on the backend. idk why     Good luck!!

Doing taxes for 2024 I noticed on state return a credit you could use for foreign country income and taxes paid. So then looking back at 2023 I hadn't noticed it and could have used it then too. On my federal return I have form 1116 for foreign credit. The final checks TT does for missing data or getting all the credits did not call it to my attention.  I need to amend only my state return to get some additional monies back. I did purchase audit defense and am not being audited. How best should I amend the state return ?
You should file the amended return. You will get a notice of tax due from the IRS and on it will be a phone number you can call to make arrangements to pay the tax due over time.

Yes, you can use the allocate by percentage-  New York has a <strange> rule that the State wages should be the same as the Box 1 wages on the W2, even if the income was not earned in New York.
It states that code has been sent to my email address but it is not being sent and wont let me go any further in the process without code
I do not need to claim the deduction for line 27b.

You might be able to eliminate it or at least reduce it.  You can go to Federal Taxes tab or Personal tab, under Other Tax Situations and select Start by the Underpayment Penalties. You will answer a series of questions that may reduce or eliminate the penalty. Or you can elect to have the IRS figure the penalty for you.  It's form 2210.   It's under Federal or Personal (for Home & Business Desktop) Other Tax Situations Additional Tax Payments Underpayment Penalties - Click the Start or update button   If you have the desktop program you can switch to Forms Mode (click forms in the upper right (left for Mac)) and open the 2210 form.  If the 2210 doesn't show up in the left column, click on Open Forms at the top of the left column.  Type 2210 in the search box and open the 2210 form.  Check box C if you want to let the IRS calculate it.

You may avoid the Underpayment of Estimated Tax by Individuals Penalty if: Your filed tax return shows you owe less than $1,000 or You paid at least 90% of the tax shown on the return for the taxable year or 100% of the tax shown on the return for the prior year, whichever amount is less. If your adjusted gross income (AGI) for 2023 was more than $150,000 ($75,000 if your filing status for 2024 is married filing separately), substitute 110% for 100%.

OMG I had convinced myself I couldnt' do this, so I didn't process the link you provided. Upon a second look, you are totally right. I was able to easily grab that .tax2024 file.  I'm still not sure why I couldn't continue from online as the help article described, but you are a lifesaver. I'll see if this gets me sorted out. Thanks!
Look at Form 1040 - line 19 and line 28 combined will show the total amount you received.  Preview Form 1040 in TurboTax Online.   Use Forms Mode if you are using the desktop software.

The 1099-R I receive for an annuity I funded from a 401(k) has IRA/SEP/SIMPLE checked. TT treats it as an IRA distribution on the federal forms.  Is this cause for concern?   It seems to me that it is a cause for concern on NJ state forms.  In NJ, money put into a tradition IRA is taxed as income while money put into a traditional 401(k) in 1984 or thereafter is not taxed.  How do I persuade TT to treat the annuity appropriately on NJ state forms?  Furthermore, how do I deal with my 401(k) including contributions made prior to 1984?
I need a promp to proceed?

Are they both under the age of 17?   Do they have SSN's valid for employment?  Did you enter income from working? Make sure you have entered your child as a dependent in My Info, and that you have entered the child's Social Security number.    Careful— do not say that your child’s SSN is not valid for employment.  If your child was born in 2024 make sure you said he lived with you the whole year.  There is an oddly worded question that asks if the child paid over half their own support.  Say NO to that question.   Have you entered income from working in 2024?  If not,  you will not receive an income tax refund based on having dependent children.     The maximum amount of the child tax credit is now $2000 per child; the refundable “additional child tax credit” amount is $1700.   In order to get that credit, you have to have income from working.     Take the amount you earned from working.   Subtract $2500.   Multiply the rest by 15%.  That is the additional child tax credit per child that you can get—- up to the maximum of $1700 per child.   If the amount you earned from working was low, you will not get the full $1700 per child.    If your child is older than 16 at the end of 2024, you do not get the CTC.  But you may still get the non-refundable $500 credit for other dependents instead.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/taxation/child-tax-credit/L2lNhfGDl_US_en_US?uid=m68dfq2u   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/taxation/additional-child-tax-credit/L6xFeMFEf_US_en_US?uid=lqnuygah https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/does-my-childdependent-qualify-for-the-child-tax-credit-or-the-credit-for-other-dependents   Look at your 2024 Form 1040 to see the child-related credits you received   PREVIEW 1040 https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/preview-turbotax-online-return-filing/L77WCkvnu_US_en_US?uid=m681fkhr   Child Tax Credit line 19 Credit for Other Dependents line 19 Earned Income Credit line 27 Additional Child Tax Credit line 28
