How can we find out why we owe so much this year in Federal Taxes and how can we prevent this happening again next year?
Ask MetLife for another copy.   May she can log into her MetLife account and download a pdf of it.

1. What was the interview question that wasn't clear?   2. How were the HSA contributions made? Through your employer (i.e. code W in box 12 on your W-2?   3. "Regardless, if I delete form 8889 to amend, my taxable amount for PA, for which my W2 does not remove the HSA "cafeteria plan" contribution, goes up." Are you saying that the box 16 amount on your W-2 does not match the box 1 amount?   4. How do you plan on removing the 8889 to amend? What are you planning on doing?   5. Was the HSA contribution part of the code W amount in box 12, and did you also say that you made a "personal" contribution of the same amount? Yes, this would need to be fixed, but on the federal level, not the state.   Please add some context here. What did you do and what are you trying to do, and what does PA have to do with HSAs (it's normally invisible to PA returns)?

S-Corp will get you the QSBS option but you're limited to 100 shareholders.  LLC is a disregarded entity so you would have to choose how to be taxed anyway.  C-Corp has the highest tax rate.   Without reviewing your actual business plan I'd go with an S-Corp.   @BluDotLuv

Through my employer, we only have the option of medical with no Vision or dental coverage. Can I use my HSA funds to pay my monthly premium for dental insurance if I get coverage through my state’s health plan finder? (Washington state) How about vision premiums? Mainly just need a lot of dental work that I cannot afford and looking for any kind of options that might help me out of my predicament. I need dentures and have several teeth that will need surgical removal over basic removal as they’re broken down below the gum line.
They are not deductible expenses.
I did that multiple times as I mentioned in my first message. It is not entered anywhere else.

@bryonmcguirk  This is a public user community forum, so we can't see the page.  Did you owe any Federal taxes due, such as approx. $2,268?    Perhaps it is adding the Federal and state together to arrive at a net figure.   Or you may need to explain more.   Have you looked at your actual Federal and state returns to see what the refund amounts on each are?

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:   TurboTax Online: Sign into your online account. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.” This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response. TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions: Open your return. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” * This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number (including the dash) that was generated in the response. *(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)  @greg8888
I can't see the options in your drop-down, only a picture I can't recognize.  Can you provide the options?

I thought that the "contributions made on your behalf to retirement plans"  refers to the 2-3% employer matching amount, not the employee contribution.  In this case, being self employed I contributed both the employee and employer match.   The employee contribution isn't made on my behalf, it is made by me.    Can I ask another question about how TT treated earned income: In the QBI form, it shows my earned income as a negative amount, and a negative carryforward.   Why a earned income as a negative amount, and where could the negative carryforward come from?   thanks for your help.

This question is only asked if you are a partial-year resident.  If that is the case, make sure you enter the date as  two-digit month and two-digit day.  Enter the date that you first moved in to Ohio and enter 12/31 for the end date.  If you are a full-year resident, it shouldn't ask for these dates.     If you continue having issues with the return, you can try to delete your state and start it again.  You might also need to clear your cache (that is, remove these temporary files) because a full or corrupted cache can cause problems in TurboTax.  You can try these steps if you are using the online version:   Clearing your Cache and Cookies Using a different browser Opening an Incognito Window Please reach out again if your problem persists.     @Megspur
