What happened for 2024? Did you pay your fees but the return was not filed? That could be because you did not go all the way through the FILE section to e-file. Paying your fees does not file the return. You have to go all the way through to a big orange button that says "Transmit my returns now" and click it in order to e-file. If you did not click that button, your tax return was not filed.
Or.....was it rejected and you did not notice?
DID YOU E-FILE?
Did you e-file? Did you go through all three steps of the FILE section and click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
When you e-file your return you will get two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say your return has been transmitted; the second one will tell you the IRS has accepted or rejected your federal e-file. If you filed a state return, there will be a third email (usually a day or two later) that tells you if the state e-file was accepted or rejected.
Check your e-file status:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
What does it say in your account? Does it show that the return was accepted? Or does it say something else---like "rejected," "printed," or "ready to mail?”
If you discover or realize that your e-file was rejected, or just never filed, you will need to print it, sign and date it in ink, and file it by mail now, since e-filing is closed for returns for tax year 2024.
Since it appears that you did not file 2024, when you try to e-file 2025 your AGI is not going to be in the system. For e-filing 2025, choose the one that says you did not file last year, or use zero as your 2024 AGI to e-file 2025.

It is likely that if you did not enter new rental property in 2025, then your depreciation entries would not be affected by the new legislation. If you needed to enter new property, you were informed that the program cannot handle that yet, so you would have been unwise to file your return without entering the new property additions.

I have used Turbotax for a number of years. This year it is asking a number of questions about taxes paid for previous years. Here is one of the questions How much of your 2024 state taxes did you pay in 2025? I had taxes due last year. If I answer this question and put in the amount I paid on my 2024 taxes when I filed in April, it generates a credit. I am not sure that I am interpreting this question correctly as those were just 2024 taxes due, I should not get a credit. I don't believe this was a question last year. I have a similar question on estimated tax payments. It seems to be doing the same thing on tax payments. It knows the dates of my tax payments for 2024 and 2025 so it has that collected. But it still comes back and asks if I made an estimated tax payment for 2024 in 2025. Technically yes I did on 1/15/25 but it was for 2024. Again the question is confusing but I made a payment for 2024 in 2025. Again, it seems to give me a credit for 2025 taxes for this 2024 payment. I don't think these questions existed last year. Am I missing something? Thank you

Using TurboTax Premier 2025 Desktop on a Mac, I am able to import 1099s on 3 of my 4 accounts, but the 4th account (which has by far the most transactions) will not import. While there are many transactions on this one account in 2025, the number of transactions is still much lower than I had in prior years when data imported with no issues. This is the message I get from TurboTax: "This import was unsuccessful. We recommend you check your internet connection and try again. If we still can't get your info, don't worry. We'll help you enter it manually so you can keep working on your taxes." This importing is the primary reason I buy TurboTax, and I will buy other software and TurboTax will lose a 25+ year customer, before I enter manually. How do I get HELP so TurboTax will fix their issue and enable me to import all my 1099s?

The Form 1040-X for amending a 2025 federal tax return is estimated to be available in TurboTax on 02/19/2026
You will have to wait for the IRS to either Accept or Reject your filed federal tax return. If the return is rejected you can make the necessary changes and e-file again. If the return is accepted you will have to amend your original tax return. An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.
Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.

As M-MTax said, the credit for taxes that were withheld is not permitted to be passed through on Schedules K-1 to the beneficiaries. (I'm confident that this is not backup withholding. The payer would have been reluctant to make the distribution without having been provided the EIN of the estate.) The estate will have to receive a refund of excess taxes withheld and then distribute these funds to the beneficiaries.

Does he need to file a 1040 with zero income, or should he report the amount he was paid in cash (even though he has no pay records.)

When entering the Energy-Efficient Vehicles Form 8936 information, it states that my income may not qualify for the credit and then charges me for the credit that was transferred to the dealer at the time of purchase. It is my understanding the 2023 filing status and income amounts should be looked at as well, correct?

Yes, you should get a price breakdown because if your installer billed you $15,000 for the whole job and you put that entire amount into the "Heat Pump" section of TurboTax, the software will stop giving you a credit once you hit the $2,000 heat pump limit. However, if you have a separate line item for that 95% efficient furnace, you can unlock an additional $600 credit for that unit.
If your installer won't give you a breakdown (or is slow to respond), you are allowed to make a "reasonable allocation" of the total price.

Communication has been inconsistent. We were told the form would be available by Feb 11, then Feb 13, and now ‘Feb 13 or after’ without any clear explanation for the delay. The IRS site shows the form has been available since Jan 26, so the lack of accurate updates is frustrating. Transparency , timely status details and a clear reason for the delay seems to be a tall order here. smh
