I have completed my TT federal return for 2025 and was surprised with the results versus last year. I have not filed the return yet, nor printed the return. I would like to actually see where the Senior Credit is included on my return. How do I see the actual return lines that reflect the $12,000 credit?

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO. You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)
The deduction is not on the same line as your standard deduction. It is shown separately.
2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS
SINGLE $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind +1600)
MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500 (65 or older/legally blind + $1600)
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.
(The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)
The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. Turbo Tax automatically includes it.
IRS Schedule 1-A

Need to see it?
The $12,000 is a separate line from the standard deduction. It is above the line so it comes off before your standard deduction or itemized deduction is factored in. If eligible you will find this on Schedule 1-A Part V and line 13b of your form 1040. TurboTax will automatically calculate it based on your date of birth and your income.
For Tax Year 2025 through 2028, seniors may claim an additional deduction of $6,000 per taxpayer over 65. This is NOT a refundable credit. This is a deduction of your income.

The standard deduction for tax year 2025 is $15,750 for single and $31,500 for married filing jointly. For those over 65 or blind your standard deduction is increased by:
Example.
Say you are both over 65 and are married filing jointly with a household income of $100,000. You do not itemize expenses, but you take the standard deduction.
Your income of $100,000 would produce taxable income of $53,300
$100,000-$31,500 standard deduction= $68,500
$68,500-$3,200 Additional standard deduction=$65,300
$65,300-$12,000 Bonus deduction for over 65= $53,300
Note: If your household income was $35,000 and you were both over 65 and married filing jointly, the total deduction would lower your taxable income to $0. Your income cannot be lower than $0.
