Hi , I would like to know if someone can guide me with the process of giving someone a 1099 for services they helped with. I do not have a registered business.
If there is a link or somewhere you recommend I look to have some direction that would be great.
Thank you in advance.
What did they help you with? Are you self employed? You don't need to have a REGISTERED business. Individuals without a business usually do not give out 1099Misc or 1099NEC.
How to prepare 1099Misc & W2

To prepare W2 and 1099s you need either the online Self Employed version or the Desktop Home & Business program or the separate Desktop Turbo Tax Business program if you need to file a 1120 or 1065 Business return.
If you did not pay this person as part of your trade or business, you do not need to issue a 1099.
If you are not a registered business, but are self-employed, you would still need to file Schedule C and use TurboTax Home and Business or TurboTax Self-Employed to fill out the Schedule C and 1099. As you walk through the income and expense section of these programs you will see a question asking if you paid someone more than $600 and need to issue a 1099. Click yes and TurboTax will walk you through it.
