This could mean the IRS's website hasn't updated since you filed your return. If you get the message "We cannot provide any information about your refund", that doesn't mean something's wrong. Please see this FAQ for more information regarding the Where's my refund message.
Your tax return is still being processed s refund date will be provided when available. I did my taxes on February 17th 2021 through turbo tax. my federal return was received by the IRS on Wednesday February 17th at 6:49 p.m. And the filing status changed accepted on Wednesday February 17th at 7:05 p.m. and then used to where's my refund tool and it showed that my refund was received and the first bar was colored in and it had all my information and it said that tax topic 152 refund information was also on it.
I'm sorry I didn't finish. This said the same thing every day till March 8th on the where's my refund tool. On March 8th is when it then said your tax return is still being processed a refund date will be provided when available. And then an hour later the same day you may not have entered your information correctly. And it wanted me to re-enter all of the information and I did that and it came back saying we cannot provide any information about your refund you must wait at least 24 hours after you get the acknowledgement email that your tax return was received by the IRS. Now my tax return was accepted on February 17th remember but the where's my refund tool was really screwing up.then this morning it said your tax return is still being processed a refund date will be provided when available. I had already received my state tax return. Does anybody have any idea what's going on or any advice? I don't want to get screwed out of the new stimulus check that was just passed they look at this return and it's still not processed. And I may have to wait for the stimulus check if it is approved. I've been doing taxes for over 40 years and I have never had to run around like this. Wednesday the 10th of March will be exactly 21 days and I will be calling the IRS if I do not get a refund date. Thanks everybody. Sal
Mine says the same thing. I was told I’m not being audited but was “special selected” because I filed 2/12 on TurboTax. I was also told the department that “special selects” you is 3 months behind due to COVID-19 & 2019 taxes. Never had this issue when I went to a personal tax preparer.
@salmyson1 If:
The IRS says that it will issue 9 out of 10 refunds to taxpayers in less than 21 days. However, we will see what approach the IRS takes in your situation.
I suspect that the IRS will scrutinize stimulus payments that were issued against the tax returns that claim the Recovery Rebate Credit. We do not know how much delay that the IRS will incur in your case.
IRS live phone assistance is extremely limited at this time. For stimulus payment questions, call 800-919-9835.
Follow the TurboTax COVID Tax Center and the IRS Economic Impact Payment Information Center for further developments.
Sorry JamesG1, this is salmyson1 and your absolutely INCORRECT! on all of the information you just put on the board.!!!! Number one I did my taxes in my home with my wife and grandchildren on February 17th, 2021 on the TurboTax online free federal and state tax returns on my computer and both the Federal and State returns were both received/accepted the same day I did my taxes!!!. I don't know where you got your information from, but you did commit a crime posting and lying and slandering me and my family's name!!! I have been doing my familys tax returns for almost 40 years and I have stored our last 20 years of our tax returns in a 3 drawer black cabinet!!! I have never made one mistake in all the years I have done them!! . I DIRECT DEPOSIT AS I HAVE DONE FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS. Again, I have been doing our taxes for almost 40 years. I have never even made a mistake on not even one tax return. I e-filed and I printed both Federal and State and have them set up for direct deposit and have them here, as I do have the last 20 years of our tax returns!! I never changed one thing on my 2020 tax returns!!I have all the Turbo tax print outs, which clearly have the exact dates and times that both returns were e-filed and pending and then accepted the same day, February 17th 2021!!. I have all the emails, with the dates they were both accepted!! And of course they came from Turbotax on February 17th 2021!!! What did you, JamesG1, accuse me of? You were certainly implying that I went back online and changed my tax returns! And what I did was make copies of all the paperwork that are very important and filed them. I can certainly take you to court for publicy lying and slandering and posting my name in a very public forum, it was harassing and in a very menacing way; and tarnishing my good familys name!!!. Be very careful of what you say and do!!!
salmyson1.
My taxes were filed on March 4th and I have not received an email from the irs that it was accepted. Should I wait the 21 days?

The IRS does not email or call taxpayers.
Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund
After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
Did you e-file? Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?
Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?”
Note: If it says “Ready to Mail” or “Printed” that means YOU have to mail it yourself. TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you.
Did you ever get your refund?
