IRS refund status is (800) 829-4477. See Where's My Refund. If your refund included earned income credit, additional child tax credit, or stimulus, your refund is expected to be delayed. See Why is my IRS refund taking longer than 21 days?

The only other way to know when your refund will be released is to use the IRS Where's My Refund tool.
Until the IRS starts processing it on their own, you may not find record of it or the website may say that you have put in incorrect information when tracking your federal refund. As your return moves through the system, the status of it will be updated accordingly. Please see here for more information on checking the status of an e-filed return.

The IRS issues most tax refunds within 21 days of the filing season start, however, some tax returns take longer to process than others for many reasons, including when a return:
Where’s My Refund? will give you a personalized date after we process your return and approve your refund.
You can also call the Taxpayer Advocate Service toll-free at 1-877-777-4778, or fill out Form 911, Request for Taxpayer Advocate Service Assistance. The Taxpayer Advocate Service is an independent organization within the IRS and is your voice at the IRS.
The IRS is seriously backlogged due to all the new tax laws and extra stimulus filings, as well as unprocessed 2019 returns left over from the COVID shutdown. In addition, the Where's My Refund site has been erratic and unreliable. But if TT told you that the IRS Accepted your filing for processing, then the government has it. (Approved is a later step, but TT receives no further updates once a return is Accepted.) Unfortunately, contacting the IRS will not speed things up. Lots of other folks (some as long as two months) are still waiting, so please continue to be patient. Also see:
