Return Still Being Process After 3 Weeks and No Stimulus Check

I've been waiting for my return and my stimulus going on 2months and still saying processing.  I'm not sure who to contact.

The wierdest part for me is that I did receive my initial stimulus payment, for more than the amount of my federal return. I am not sure how returns are being handled (if they are at all...) but the longer it takes, the further behind I fall. For TurboTax to process my federal & state returns, money was deducted without fail, but they are not able or not willing to provide further assistance once they are paid. Suffice it to say, I will not be using TurboTax again.

Unfortunately, once your return is filed TurboTax doesn't receive any additional information from the IRS or your state.  You can only get updates directly from the tax authorities once the data has been released to them about the status of your return.  Delays in processing are due to staffing issues at the IRS and state level over which we have no control.

I have the same problem, I submitted on Feb 6, and got accepted after a couple days. Until now it just kept saying in process.

If your tax return was accepted back in Feb and it is still processing, then the IRS is the only place that will be able to provide you the status of your return.  Your return is being manually processed at this point, but only the IRS knows why.  The have started taking calls but the lines are long and return processing is backlogged for months.  

Delays in processing are due to staffing issues at the IRS and state level over which we have no control.  You will need to speak with an IRS representative to find out what is going on with your tax return.  @levin1994

Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.

You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".

After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.

Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.

To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

This is just the craziest thing!  I e-filed on February 27th was accepted by the IRS that same day....I am still waiting for my refund.  I have talked with the IRS four times now.  Having them shut down during tax season and saying they were not an essential business was ridiculous.  I received NO letter until July 16th  (it had to so with them withholding too much in social security).  I responded via fax sending them all w-2's that very day - The last time that I talked to them which was early August, they said that even though I sent all the information back, they did not even LOOK at any correspondence until August 1st so 6-8 weeks would start from that date.  I held my temper, but wonder if I owed THEM money if they would be so forgiving of it being over six months late!  I bet not!  So..here I still wait for my refund with it STILL saying it is still being processed.  I guess I will need to sit on hold again on Monday.  Anyone else STILL waiting on your refunds from February??

If you want to get mad at someone then yell at Congress ... it is they who have cut the IRS budget every year for the last 10 years so they are understaffed and working with old systems.  On top of the covid shut down during tax season they also had to put out stimulus checks which took priority so all other processes where put to the side.   Patience will be needed by all parties during these trying times.

It is just so frustrating.  It has been 8 months now since I electronically filed my return.  The "error" they found could have been corrected by them if they would have just looked at the W-2 info that was sent.  I responded to their letter (that I finally received July 17) and faxed everything they were looking for.  I was able to talk with someone and they said, "Oh, well we all got back to work the end of July so anything that was sent won't be looked at until August 1 - give us 8 weeks from that date.  I did that and still is processing return!  I have tried for three days (holding for over two hours when I got disconnected one day) and the next two I get the message that they are too busy to take my call and try back later or the next business day.  I have never been disrespectful to the representatives that I get...though I am literally biting my tongue...but I know it is not their fault.  The new thing that comes up on the recording (before you either hold for ever and get disconnected or you don't even get put on hold) - is that refunds issued between April 17 and July 22 had interest added to their refunds....well what about those of us who have been waiting since February?  I am just beyond frustrated at this point.

So I filed my tax return from you guys and it says that it was accepted federallyand in the state but yet IRS is saying they either dont have my tax return,I'm not eligible for the third stimulus check or yeah they dont have the tax return what do I do?

Mine was accepted February 11th and I have heard nothing!!! My processing tracking bar disappeared after about a week and a half and then now I just have a message saying it’s still processing and that they will post date whenever it’s ready. I was apart of the early filers group and seems we have been screwed over. The worst part about all this is I was filing to get my stimulous due to my parents filing me as a dependent in the previous years so I filed this year to get my stimulous and now bc they haven’t process my return I CANT GET THE $1400 STIMMY that was just released. I am beyond upset and frustrated. I have no answers. IRS hasn’t contacted me or sent me any mail or anything and I can’t get thru to talk to a live agent bc they are so busy... ANYONE ELSE GOING THRU ANYTHING SIMILAR?! Idk what to do and I need this money BAD. I’m struggling. The only reason my parents filed me as a dependent In the past is because they own a business and would get money for me taken off what they owed and it was better that way bc it was worth more that way. But now they don’t even get stimulous bc they make over the top out so even if they go by my previous years I couldn’t even get my 1400 sent to my parents as. Dependent bc they aren’t eligible for the stimulus!! I have no ide what to do... just keep waiting like I have been doing? I’ve been waiting since January  when I filed and feb 11 is when I was accepted so that’s 34 DAYS SINCE IVE BEEN ACCEPTED AND I HAVE HEARD NO UPDATE OR NOTHING!!

Once the IRS accepts a  return for processing TT is totally out of the picture ... they did their job but successfully efiling a return.   How long the IRS takes to process the return is up to the IRS.   Once the 2020 return is processed the third stimulus payment should be released however it is an advance of the 2021 credit so if you don't get it in advance you can apply for it on the 2021 return you file next year just like you did with the 2020 credit.

same issue here. I filed on the February 13th and was accepted thr next day and I haven't received my refund or stimulus payment and they still owe me for the 2nd stimulus payment. Mine is also saying still being processed.
