Yesterday, October 31, 2023, I e-filed my 2023 Federal and state return generated via TurboTax Premium online. I was asked for the AGI on line 11 of my 2022 return (as filed), which I read directly off of the form. My 2022 taxes were also done via TurboTax. TurboTax stated "success" in submitting both the Federal and state forms.
This morning, I checked to see that my e-filing was rejected with the error IND-031-04 because the AGI did not match and/or the PIN was wrong. I never received a PIN, so I used the AGI from line 11. My 2022 taxes were already processed so the AGI should be in the IRS's system. But the IRS did find an error, so could that have made _their_ version of my federal form have a different AGI on line 11?
As far as filing, I will try e-filing again, and if that fails, mail them copies with a letter explaining the error (and including, maybe, a copy of the front page of my 2022 return showing the AGI line 11). What do people think?

E-filing is permanently closed for 2023 returns now. AGI does not matter when you mail a return, and the only way you can file now is by mail. Print, sign and date your return in ink, and mail it in.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
