When will I receive my tax refund ?

Approximately 90% of taxpayers will receive their refunds in less than 21 days from the day their tax return was accepted by the IRS. Most people receive their refund in an average of 10-14 days.

Here's a link to help you track it.  https://www.irs.gov/refunds

The IRS releases most refunds within 21 calendar days after the e-filed return has been accepted (received), not 21 days from the e-filing date.

We know you'd like your refund as fast as possible, but we have no control over how fast the IRS or your state returns your money to you. We're unable to track down, research, or expedite your refund, because those actions are only done by the government—you'll have to contact the IRS or your state tax office for help.

If you still haven't received your refund or your refund is less than you expected, it's possible you may have a refund offset.

  • For mailed returns, allow 5–6 weeks from the postmark date. (If you claimed an Earned Income Tax Credit and/or an Additional Child Tax Creditand filed before February 15, 2019, you’ll get your refund the week of February 27 at the earliest.)
  • Wait 24 hours after your federal return has been accepted before looking it up at Where's My Refund?
  • If you don’t have a computer or internet access, you can check the status of your refund by calling the IRS at 800-829-1954.
  • For more information, you can also view Where's My Refund FAQs.
  • If you opted to e-file and you entered an incorrect account numberfor direct deposit, the government will mail you a refund check, allow 5–6 weeks from the postmark date.

When will I receive my tax refund ?

I filed 3/20 and still have not been able to get out of the "processing" tag.

77 days now. I believe they may be out of money.

Wondering if political affiliation has something to do with it, not unlike the Oboma and his attack on conservatives.

When will I receive my tax refund ?

@cacu  Where did you indicate your political affiliation on your Form 1040?  Do you actually believe that nonsense or are you grasping at straws to explain a delay in processing your tax return?   The IRS has been severely backlogged and many refunds have been delayed, especially if they require any sort of special handling or attention due to mistakes.  Did you mail your return or e-file it?   If you mailed it, it is taking about six months or longer  for the IRS to process mailed returns.

Or did you e-file?

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

I have received my state taxes but haven't received my federal taxes how can I find out when I can get them

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities,  There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.

OR——if you filed by mail, expect a long wait.   It is taking the very backlogged IRS six to nine months to process mailed returns.   Until a human opens your envelope and enters the data into the system, nothing will even show up on the refund site, so you will have to be very patient.

If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund earlier than late February.
