What did you mean by that?? Be aware you cannot pay any 2023 state taxes due out of a Federal refund. If you have state tax due on your current 2023 state return, you have to pay that independently by whatever method your state allows.
The only thing you can choose to pay out of your Federal return in TurboTax is any product fee, if you chose that option.
FAQ: Can I pay my state taxes from my Federal refund?
My return status hasn’t changed since 1-30. As of today 2-17 it still says “accepted”

Where are you looking? If you are seeing the term "accepted" at the Online TurboTax website, it will never change, since that just refers to the efile status. Once accepted, it will always show that from now on.
You should be checking a Federal refund with this IRS "Where's My Refund" tool. It won't use the term "accepted." It would most likely say "received" or "processing."
At of this morning 2-17 it finally says APPROVED! I should have it by the 22nd
I just checked and mine says the same! I submitted on 1/25.
Your tax refund is scheduled to be sent to your bank by February 22, 2024.
If your refund is not credited to your account by February 27, 2024, check with your bank to see if it has been received.
Mine says the same
“Your tax refund is scheduled to be sent to your bank by February 22, 2024. If your refund is not credited to your account by February 27, 2024 , check with your bank to see if it has been received”
Btw, I thought TurboTax said they pay the state taxes out of the federal. I owe like $1800 because we are a military family and have only been filing in our home state.. so we were penalized for not filing in Alabama too.
If you used the Refund Processing Service, you can pay your TurboTax state preparation fee with your federal refund but not your state tax bill. Note that a $40 processing fee is charged by the third-party bank that handles the transaction.
That's because the IRS and state tax departments each maintain separate tax collection systems. This means you can't apply your federal refund to pay off your state taxes, nor the other way around. Likewise, if you're filing more than one state return, you can't use the refund from one state to pay off another state.
You would have to pay your state tax, either using a voucher and mailing the payment in, or some states allow you to pay electronically from their websites. The payment voucher printing instructions will show if you select Check Payment on your state return
Happy for everyone that saw movement over night. Mine STILL says the same. Sigh
Mine said the same at 3am but at 8 am I saw my deposit.
Today we got a letter saying we needed to verify our account because fraud was suspected. All I can think is we changed our direct deposit account this year. Went on line and answered all of the questions. Said we are now verified. It also said it could take up to 9 weeks now for our refund but everything else I have read said it usually does not take that long. Really hoping it won't be much longer now.
I filed 1/29, still hasn't been approved as of 2/21, no Return Transcript or Record of Account Transcript for 2023. Account Transcript just says No Tax Return Filed.
Please check your email to see if your return has been accepted by the IRS. If so, then it is being processed but not completed yet.
Your return might fall under the Path Act. The PATH Act stipulates that the IRS must withhold refunds for filers who claim these tax credits until February 15. So if you file before February 15, you're owed a tax refund and you're claiming either the ACTC or EITC, your entire refund will be withheld until at least the February 15 deadline.
@tbrass84 go on your account page and look under notifications and see if they need more info from you. That's what I did yesterday and saw they needed me to verify my identity. I also happened to get the letter the same day.
I filed on 02/01/24 and was accepted on 02/02/24 likewise, haven't seen an update passed accepted as of today 02/22/24.
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2023 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act. Do not expect your refund earlier than late February.
