Mine was over $3000 after the tracking said mine would be adjusted already. It’s $3000 less than that…
Did you enter ALL of the stimulus money that you had already received correctly in the recovery rebate credit section when you prepared your tax return? The IRS cross checks and if you did not enter all of the money you received, they recalculate your refund.
MY REFUND WAS LESS THAN I EXPECTED
There can be a number of reasons why your refund was less than the amount you expected. First of all, look carefully at your actual tax returns. There is sometimes confusion about the amount of refund to expect when users misinterpret the “summary” they saw in TurboTax. The amount of your refund is on your tax return. Federal refund is on line 34 on Form 1040 State tax forms are all different so we cannot tell you what line to look at on your state form. BUT it is important to actually LOOK at your tax return forms yourself and see the amounts of your tax refunds and/or tax due. A lot of confusion would be avoided by doing that.
TurboTax does not receive feedback from the IRS regarding money that was offset from your refund. If you owed back taxes, child support, student loan debt, etc. you will receive a letter of explanation from the IRS in several weeks. The WMR site will contain a message regarding your offset. It is also possible that the IRS caught a mistake you made and reduced your refund.
A possible reason for the reduction could be that the recovery rebate credit was completed incorrectly and you may have entered the amount of stimulus already received wrong, which could have reduced the refund you thought you were seeing.
It is also possible that your state reduced your refund for debts owed in your state—if the state reduced your state refund you will receive a letter from the state.

Be aware also that your Federal refund and state refund do NOT come together. Federal and state tax returns are processed by two completely separate entities. There is no rule as to which one will come first,
Did you choose to have TT fees deducted from your Federal refund? (Remember that if you did that, you also agreed to an extra refund processing fee of $39.99)

Yes I did.
Yes, but that doesn't help some of us.
Hi there why wasn't my whole refund amount deposited in my bank account
Me too! I'm hoping they just haven't sent the rest yet.
Did you get the rest of yet?
I'm reading all of your responses plus the "reasons" why. If this a true TT play, and the reason I received only 10% of my federal refund, I will spread the word! However, there is NO explanation why or that is what offset for any reason. It still says, it has been delayed at "Where's My Refund?". Where do we find clarity for our questions now?
I claimed my disabled boyfriend who is 36 on my taxes this year, and was told I would receive 2,358.00 back on my refund. My adjustment total was 958.00, and I'm trying to figure out why I'm missing the other 1,400.00. Where did the 1,400.00 get sent to? Was my boyfriend not eligible for a dependent because of age? I needed that entire 2,358.00, and am upset about my refund now.

A lot of people make invalid claims, and then get upset when the IRS informs them that their claim is invalid.
the IRS letter, which may come later, will tell you how to dispute or appeal the IRS adjustment if you believe your claim is valid.
No one at TT knows why the IRS disallowed the stimulus for your BF. No one can see your return and TT does not get any information from the IRS after you file your return. If your BF received more than $4300 of income in 2021--not counting Social Security---then you cannot claim him as a dependent. It has nothing to do with his age. In order to claim an adult dependent who is not related to you, they have to live with you for the whole year, have less than $4300 of income, and you had to provide over half of his support for the year.
The IRS will send you a letter that tells you why they reduced your refund. It will take several weeks for the letter to arrive.
Please do not try to post your personal information like email or phone number here on this very public website unless you want to be contacted by scammers and identity thieves who will pretend to be from TurboTax. The filter removed it for your safety.
@Lil_cuteangel132000 Is this the first year you are claiming him? Did you claim a different dependent on your 2020 or 2019 return that you aren't claiming this year? You may have already gotten the 3rd stimulus for a dependent.
So, if you lost one qualifying person you aren't claiming this year and replaced that person with another dependent , you still have the same number of persons on your return. The IRS shows they already sent you the full amount for that many prople.
Good morning, I was just wondering why I didn’t get all my tax refund
