There are a couple of possible reasons that could cause a delay in the processing of your return:

First, your return status might be “Pending” due to security issues. This could be a sign that someone is trying to use your identity to fraudulently file a tax return, in which case the return would have been placed on hold to allow you the opportunity to cancel it if it doesn't belong to you. This can take up to 72 hours, after which your return will then be forwarded to the IRS, or if applicable, rejected. If rejected, you can then correct the rejection issue and resubmit. Click on the following link: FAQ for additional information.

Second, there could be a delay if your return has certain refundable credits.  This includes the Earned Income Credit and the Child Tax Credit.

Note: Both situations may be applicable to the same return. That is, you could have a hold for security reasons, and also for verification of the refundable credit(s) in your return. In this case, the delay could extend beyond 72 hours.

I'm having the same issue, submitted the wrong AGI amount for 2022 and now it's still pending.  Since it's most likely Turbo tax holding it should I just say screw it and file a new return with corrected information and a different tax provider?

Don’t have any EIC or Child Credits. I’ve seen other people say theirs is pending also and we filed the same day around the same time. Could there be a glitch in TT software where ppl tax returns are stuck in limbo? Thanks

Exactly I was thinking the same thing because IRS don’t have record of my return. Are you going to do this?

My return is still in “pending” status & it’s been almost 72 hours?!?

If I don't hear something by tomorrow I am going to file elsewhere.  Technically the IRS should have no record of any return submitted because Turbo tax most likely intercepted (I entered wrong 2022 AGI, and used a different account/ email) so yes I'm going to just do that.  Sucks because I paid them in advance so I will lose that.  If i file with old account and correct information, I presume that it will get accepted, and obce turbo tax releases the other one it'll just get rejected for duplicate returns.

I may do the same. Let me know how it goes because TT is definitely holding the returns for some reason. I want to know if you get accepted.

I definitely will, we can keep eachother updated until we get some kind of resolution.  Good luck.

There could be a couple or reasons why you might be experiencing a delay;

1. First, the status might be pending for security reasons. This may be a sign that someone is trying to use your identity to file a tax return. The return has been placed on hold to give you an opportunity to cancel it if it doesn't belong to you. This can take up to 72 hours, after which your return will then be forwarded to the IRS, or if applicable, rejected. If rejected, you can then correct the rejection issue and resubmit. Please see this FAQ for reference.

2. Secondly, there could be a delay if your return has various refundable credits, such as the Earned Income Credit.

Note: Both instances may be applicable. That is, you could have a hold for security reasons first. And additionally for verification of the refundable credits in your return. In this case, delays might extend beyond 72 hours.
