She decided? Was she your dependent or not?
How old was she in 2020? Was she a full time student in 2020? Did she have gross income of $4,300 or more in 2020?
If someone can be claimed as a dependent, even if they are not being claimed, the must indicate on their tax return that they CAN be claimed as a dependent.
She is 22 yrs old and I usually claim her. But this year she made $14000 and with the stimulus it benefited her to claim herself. When I removed her from my tax info on Turbo Tax, I didn't double check and it has her listed as my dependent. So I need to remove her so she can file on her own.

You will have to amend your 2020 tax return that was filed to remove her as a dependent.
Due to the all the changes that Congress imposed on the tax code in 2021, the amend process using TurboTax is temporarily not available - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amend-tax-return/help/why-can-t-i-amend-my-return/01/2122917
She can still file her tax return but it will have to printed and mailed. It cannot be e-filed since the IRS has already received a tax return with her name and Social Security number as a dependent. She would still have to mail the return even if you have amended your return.
The IRS will pay any tax refund on her return and she may also be eligible for the 1st and 2nd stimulus payments using the Recovery Rebate Credit on the 2020 federal tax return. The third stimulus payment more than likely will not be paid to her this year but she can apply for the credit on her 2021 tax return to be filed next year.
Hello I made the mistake and thought I had deleted my daughter has a dependent. Still learning.
I want to amend my 2020 taxes and remove her from my taxes. Please help I've been waiting on you - Turbotax (3/25/201) to amend my 2020 taxes but still unavailable. What would be the best way to amend my taxes or does my daughter need to do something so she can complete the filing 2020 taxes (it was rejected when she filed due to the fact that my taxes has her as a dependent)
I know I need to file a 1040X (also can do electronically thru Turbotax). Was is the holdup to amend the 2020 taxes electronically? I was told that turbotax should allow us to amend our 2020 taxes already.
May 17, 2021 is around the corner. HELP ASAP
It depends.
Did you have any unemployment income on the tax return you originally filed?
If so, there are some updates that will affect your amended return that need to be put into place.
Please see the link below to sign up for updates so you can be notified when the amended returns are ready to prepare within TurboTax.

Will these changes be done so my daughter can file on time? She has hers ready but can't e file, so she can mail them in. The deadline now is May 17?
She doesn't have to wait for you to amend your return. She can print and mail her return now.
So she can mail hers, and I can amend mine when its time? Will removing her from mine make a huge difference? I'm nervous , I have never made a mistake on taxes before. I feel like I'm going to be in trouble, lol. Also, I got her stimulus money from that last time, I'm holding it, in case they want me to return it so they can issue it to her.
