If your income is within the limits and you did not receive the full amount of the 3rd stimulus check, you can claim the rest on your 2021 tax return. It is called the Recovery Rebate Credit on Line 30 of Form 1040.
The full payment is available to single tax filers with income under $75,000 and married joint filers with an income under $150,000.
If you have not filed, to get back to that screen to claim the rest of the credit, follow these steps:
If you qualify for more than you received, the recovery rebate credit will show up on Line 30. But if the search result did not show the screen as shown below, very likely your income is over the limit.
Thanks,
I need to submit an amended return to adjust line 30 because I already filed.
Is TT capable of doing this?
When I initially filed, I incorrectly entered that I had received the full amount which resulted in nothing being entered on line 30. I am eligible for the full amount but my IRS account shows I received nothing. My income dropped significantly from 2020 to 2021.
Yes. You can prepare and file an amended tax return with TurboTax and you should.
The IRS says it will fix returns with the wrong stimulus amount, but wants you to file an amendment if you listed $0. IRS says: "The IRS will not calculate the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit for you if you did not enter any amount on your original tax return, or you entered $0."

Thanks, I know I can and should file an amended return for the stimulus payment but again, my question is how do I do this with TurboTax? I clicked on every credit listed and none of them refer to the third stimulus payment.
Directions to amend your 2021 Federal 1040 tax return can be found here.
In TurboTax Online, you are prompted to input the third stimulus check information under Review down the left hand side of the screen. You can also access your stimulus check choices by following these steps:
In TurboTax Desktop, follow these steps:
If you have not received the third stimulus check, you will receive your payment in the form of a Recovery Rebate Credit on line 30 of your 2021 Federal tax return when you file.
TurboTax will compare your stimulus payment amount to the computations within TurboTax. The computations within TurboTax are based upon the information that you have entered into the tax software. If you are due an additional amount, it will be issued as a Recovery Rebate Credit (RRC) on line 30 of the 2021 1040 tax return.
If you have e-filed your 2021 Federal tax return and the tax return is accepted by the IRS, you will have to amend your 2021 Federal tax return and correct the entries and calculations to receive the Recovery Rebate Credit.
I went through the whole amendment process to the point of generating a pdf and was never prompted to enter anything regarding the RRC. It seems like all of the responses so far are assuming that the amendment tool performs the same RRC final check to verify eligibility and amount but this does not appear to be the case with the amended return.
I'm using TT Online
From the previous post...
"In TurboTax Online, you are prompted to input the third stimulus check information under Review down the left hand side of the screen."
Review does not appear on the menu for the Amended Return so I clicked on Other Tax Situations, went through all the prompts and never got to the RRC screen.
Resolved by searching for Jump to Recovery Rebate credit.
