To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

Or go to this IRS website for free federal tax return transcripts - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

For a fee of $43 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

You have to sign onto your 2019 online account using the exact same User ID you used to create the online account.

Close all TurboTax windows on your web browser (including this one).  Copy and paste the account recovery website link onto a new web browser window and run the tool.

Use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of all the User ID's for an email address.  Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery

If none of the user ID's received will access your 2019 account, then use the option shown in blue on the account recovery website, "Try something else"

This is a public Internet forum.  Please do not post personal info in the public user community forum.  I'll assume your wife prepared the prior return in Online TurboTax.  Any return prepared in desktop software will not be in an Online account.

I'm not sure what you mean by "my wife's tax form."    Do you mean her 2019 tax return?    I'll take a guess  based on the title of this thread.  Are you trying to find your wife's 2019 return prepared in Online TurboTax?   If so, I presume that means you filed separately and thus have separate accounts.   Here's how to find a 2019 online return.      I'll tell you how to normally find it, and  also how to regain access to multiple accounts, if needed.

Normally, one can log in with the SAME User ID and password used to prepare the wife's 2019 return. You must log in with the SAME User ID and password used to prepare the wife's return.  Then go to the Tax Home, and scroll down the Tax Home page to the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents."  Expand that section and choose the tax year you want.   Then you can choose to "Download/print the PDF", or if you just need the 2019 AGI, then once you choose 2019, there should be a link to "View adjusted gross income (AGI.)"

If there's no evidence of the 2019 return in that account, you can look for other accounts.   You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes.  A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be.  It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.

To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access.

NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop.  Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below.  You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session.

If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method:

Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look up the account by SSN and other parameters.

I need to know the status of my 2019 tax return.  I have not received the second stimulus check of $600 and think there may be a problem with my 2019 tax return, which I filed in Oct or Nov 2020.

I am requesting a copy of my 2019 MN tax return.  My computer crashed in 2020 and the file was deleted.  Thanks

If you filed that late in the year, it's possible the IRS has not finished processing it.   How did you file--did you efile (if in October prior to efiling shutdown) or by mail (if you filed in November)?    If you efiled, your account should show the efile status to see if the efiled return was accepted or rejected.   You can log in and at the Tax Home go to the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents" and look at the efile status there--it should say one of these:  accepted, rejected, printed, started, ready to mail, etc.   If you chose to print and file by mail, did you actually mail it?   TurboTax does not mail it for you.

The IRS is way behind in processing 2019 returns, so if you filed that late in the year (especially if by mail), it's not unusual.

Here's how you can speak to a live IRS agent, but it may not be easy.

IRS:  800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday

When calling the IRS do not choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

  • First choose your language.  Then listen to each menu before making the selection.
  • Then press 2 for "personal income tax".
  • Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
  • Then press 3 "for all other questions."
  • Then press 2 "for all other questions."
  • It may then ask for your SSN, but do not enter it.  Just wait.    If it asks for SSN a second time, still do not enter it.
  • Then it will get "tired", and you'll get another menu.  Choose 2 for "personal".
  • Then in the next menu choose 4 for "all other inquiries", and it should transfer you to an agent but expect a long wait.
  • I usually use a speakerphone so I can work on something else while waiting.

How was the 2019 return prepared?  Did you use Online TurboTax (web version) or desktop software (CD/download)?

If you used desktop software, then all tax files are saved locally on one's computer and/or any external backup storage devices, and you would have been the only who could have saved a copy.

If it was prepared in Online TurboTax, log in and at the Tax Home, scroll down to "Your Tax Returns & Documents."   Expand that section and choose tax year 2019, then look for a link "Download/print the PDF."   If there's no evidence of a 2019 return in that account, we can tell you how to look for multiple accounts.

That can be interpreted a couple of different ways.

Are you currently preparing a 2020 return, and in order to efile, are you trying to find your 2019 AGI, and was the 2019 return prepared in Online TurboTax?

If your 2019 returns were prepared in Online TurboTax, log into your account and at the Tax Home scroll down and expand the section "Your Tax  Returns & Documents".  Choose tax year 2019, and then click "Download/print the PDF", or if you just need the 2019 AGI, there is also a link "View adjusted gross income (AGI)."  If you can't find any evidence of your 2019 return in "Your Tax Returns & Documents", then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one. (NOTE:  Any return prepared in desktop software--CD/download--will not be in a online account.)    Many people end up with multiple accounts without realizing it.   Here's how to troubleshoot for multiple accounts (User IDs) :

You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes.  A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be.  It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.

To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access.

If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method:

Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by SSN and other parameters.
