Are you talking about 2020 Form 1040?
IRS says:
"all 2020 returns have been recorded.
If we [IRS] have no record of your 2020 tax return you should resubmit on paper via US Mail. or electronically, if possible"
check your online account at IRS.gov to see it your 1040 was recorded.
Sorry ... but if you signed a contract counting on the tax refund to "pay down" some of the solar costs then only you are to blame for the consequences of a delay in the refund.
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/wheres-my-refund/
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Or you can contact your local IRS office. See this IRS website for local IRS offices - http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-Your-Local-IRS-Office-1 or call 1-844-545-5640 to set up an appointment
Or you may want to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in your area. See this IRS website for Taxpayer Advocate in your area and a toll free number - http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate
This is for 2021 tax return. It shows accepted on turbo tax there is many different comments depending on the page you go to on the website from the irs stating all different stages or process.
I have been calling everyday as soon as they open throughout the day and no ones answered called back or anything.
Irs is full of $#!+
Well due to the tax breaks for solar and the government stipulations if you get solar you get a tax incentive. That incentive is for you to pay down your solar. This is the programs way of trying to make people go green. So as you see solar companies worked in a way that if you don't get the incentive then they raise your interest and change your payment amounts.
That's why it is dependent on it is because the government made the incentive program this way not me.
I like how rude you are and how helpful you aren't. All this information is on the website from the irs and didn't need this post to tell me the same **bleep** I've been doing. I paid for deluxe service through turbo tax and expect to get better assistance as stated. Instead you have some rude response blaming people for trying to go green and a government incentive program stipulations is f-ing them over.
Your response was not needed at all and it is not my fault the government stipulations to receive the tax incentive for going green is flawed. This is how the incentive program works for solar so f you and go screw yourself **bleep**.
Thanks for nothing!
Sorry ... but your issue is between you and the IRS and you and the finance company so you will have to deal with them. TT cannot intervene on your behalf ... once you have successfully filed the return there is nothing the TT program can or will do for you.
I just don't understand what service you pay for then for turbo tax if they cannot even assist you. I've done it every year free and this past year paid for it just in case we needed Support and we got nothing from tt or irs. It's pointless to pay for services if they aren't even going to do anything but provide you with the same info you get free offline.
Thank you all though I just wanted to see if I could find out why it's taking so long and if the return was messed up. But no one will answer and I cannot find out and it's really frustrating when it's almost a yr later..
Thank you!
What you pay for is a DIY program to complete and file a tax return. Intuit is not a professional income tax company who signs your return and can be held responsible for what is on the return and can intervene on your behalf with the IRS.
Once you efile a return and it is accepted for processing by the feds or state then TT has done it's designed job.
Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund
