I already submitted my federal via desktop version. now I am trying to open by saved tax file but keep getting an error message. How should I resolve this?

Do you have the .tax2023 tax data file on your computer? Are you going up to File-Open? Did you have to reinstall the program or moving it to another computer? I'll take a guess. Is it error 190?

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to File-New Tax Return).

Then go to FILE -Open and find your return.
