The Form 1040 and the Form 1040-SR are Exactly the same form. The Only difference is that the 1040-SR has a larger type.
If you are age 65 or older the TurboTax program will have the Form 1040-SR when you print and mail the tax return.

How to change my current return to SR
@Joanne24 No reason to change it. If you print it out for yourself it will print on a 1040SR with the bigger print. The IRS gets all the same information on a 1040 or 1040SR so it does not matter what is sent to the IRS. It will be identical.
I know the 1040SR presents the same info as the 1040, but I prefer the 1040 format. How do I change it to use the 1040? I found the toggle to change it in 2023 but can't find it in 2024.

If using desktop software, go into Forms Mode and in the left column forms list select the Federal Information Worksheet (abbrev. Info wks). Then in Part II of that worksheet you can select the 1040 vs. 1040SR format for printing that you desire.
