How long after the bank rejects my refund will it take the IRS to issue me a paper check

@Karichard1970 According to the IRS, updates to Where’s My Refund status is delayed for some.

I suggest calling the Where's My Refund automated hotline instead: 1-800-829-1954; you may have a better chance of getting your refund status this way.

Yes, I've checked.  None of the dates make sense.  My bank tells me they returned the refund on 2/19/2021.  However, the "Where's My Refund" indicates the refund was deposited on 2/22/2021.  I don't understand how  my bank can return it before the IRS says it was deposited. I check the status every day and it doesn't change.

There have been delays in the system being updated. 

In addition to the previous suggestions, you can also see the information in the link below.  You can try to trace your deposit that was said to have been deposited but that you haven't received.  Select Is it possible to find out if my federal tax refund check was cashed to pursue this option.

Normally once the refund has been rejected, it takes about 48 business hours before they receive the funds back.

I already contacted the IRS and the agent i spoke to said he couldnt find where my return is. The money was suppose to be deposited on February 22nd. I just dont understand how the bank hasnt sent it back yet and its been weeks.

I claim my taxes 6 weeks ago. I still have not received my refund. I accidentally had put the wrong number dor the last digit of my account. I received my state taxes so I wonder if they tried to deposit and then it didn't go through. But it is a prepaid Serve card so I don't know if it goes to anybody else's account I'm worried because it is a prepaid card.

When the IRS sends money to the account the bank will check and if everything does not match, they will send the money back to the IRS.  Then the IRS will send you a paper check.  The IRS worked on the their websites this weekend and they are updated.

Thanks.  I re-checked "Where's My Refund" and my date still reads 2/22/2021.

The bank should be able to tell you the date they returned it to the IRS.  Have you talked to your bank?

It takes a few weeks, however the IRS will have to mail a paper check to the last known address.  Have you since filed your 2020 return?  If so, they may attempt to use that information for issuing your refund.

My bank is a prepaid card i have caller multiple times with no help. I called the IRS yesterday after my payment was suppose to be sent February 22nd and the IRS cant find where my payment is. I called the bank back and they are finally trying to trace where the funds are after days of the run around.

If you continue to not have progress with your refund and it goes over two weeks please see this information from the IRS as you may need to initiate a trace: https://www.irs.gov/faqs/irs-procedures/refund-inquiries/refund-inquiries-18. This will allow the IRS to contact your bank.
