Did you already e-file? If you did NOT e-file you can go to the FILE section step 2 to enter/change how you want to receive your refund. If you want direct deposit you need the routing number and your own account number.
You cannot change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted. The IRS does not allow it.
When you select direct deposit in the File section on Step 2, on the next screen Let's get your bank account info
are boxes with the bank name, routing number and account number.
Can you not edit the name or numbers in those boxes?
I cannot change my old bank account info to my new bank account iI go to "file" and go through everything, I get NO OPTION to remove my old account information and add my new. I get no message about changing the stored bank account information. I have checked to pay my TurboTax fee with my federal return if that makes any difference. And, in the stored personal info, there's no option there.
@celticgirl2022 In the File section of the program on Step 2 you do not see this screen that has bank routing and account numbers, which can be edited, when you select direct deposit for your tax refund -
I efiled. The form would not let me update my bank account number. Turbotax/intuit will get my refund money in order to collect its fee. Is there any way that the company can forward my refund to my new account number after it takes its fee? If not, how do I update my account so that this does not happen again next year.
If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.
For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/

Was this after you hit sumit?
I have the same problem. On step two it shows my old bank info from last year and does not give me an option to change it.
If your old bank account is checked, look for small print below that says something like 'add new bank' or 'change account'.
Or, check the box that says 'split refund into multiple accounts'. On the next page, enter the entire Refund Amount, and your new bank info.
This box does not pop up. I get an error message telling me to check the box that states the bank information is correct, but it is not. I can't proceed to the next step. HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE DANG BANK INFORMATION?!?!!?!?!?!? Why is it so hard?? There have been hundreds of people asking the same question with no definite answer or solution.
See this FAQ: How do I change my transferred direct deposit information?
