I’m needing to change my bank information on file please explain me in how to do it
If you have e-filed the 2019 tax return the method of receiving the tax refund cannot be changed. If your bank information is incorrect the direct deposit will be rejected and then the IRS will send a refund check to the address entered on your tax return.
I haven't received my refund. It's just in the halfway stage at the IRS. And this is plenty of time to change. Now I know the people that they are, this will be a delay.
NOTHING MORE THAN A RIDICULOUS DELAY. Things happen.
If you've already filed and your return has been accepted (or mailed), it's too late to change your bank account for direct deposit. If you have not filed yet you can click here to find the directions to update your direct deposit. You can try calling the IRS to stop the direct deposit if your return hasn't posted to their system yet (and you're willing to get your refund via paper check). For security reasons, the IRS cannot re-route your refund to a different account.
Please click the IRS FAQ link, listed below, to learn more.
My bank account has been closed for direct deposit for refund how can do change this information before check be deposit to closed account
@Wlucas1958 You cannot change your direct deposit information if you've already filed and your return was accepted. Please see @TerukoL response above: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/after-you-file/discussion/re-hi-hitme-if-you-have-already-filed-yo...
The irs says that my check was deposited on February 5th and my turbo tax was says it was estimated for the 17th and as I followed the blue bar that tells me when its accepted was filled on the 17th and I still haven't gotten my my deposit and its been more than 21 days I called my bank and they haven't got anything and I confirmed with them if I had the correct account number and routing number I'm sure I put the correct information but still haven't gotten my deposit..
If you have already filed, your only other option would be to contact the IRS directly. For more information on how to contact the IRS, please see the FAQ below:
The same happened to me. I opened a new account with Chase bank with my old address but since I moved out of state they decided to close my account. I put that new account for a direct deposit. I needed a new bank account since my current one doesn't have any branches in my new state. And all my files were accepted within 24 hours. so now I have to tell my old address to keep an eye in the mail for both checks. ughhhhh
Your question did not come through. How can we help?
I no longer have this account anymore I was having so many problems with them that my money wasn’t going onto the card so I closed that account and I’m finished with them. I just need to change the bank information account number and routing number so I can get my return on time instead of waiting
@ccolman024
If you have not e-filed or mailed your tax return already you can change how you want to receive your refund, go to the "File" section and enter/review/update to make the change:
If you have already filed, once your return has been accepted (or mailed), it's too late to change the direct deposit information. Now, if your recently e-filed return is in pending status, wait to see if it is either accepted or rejected.
If accepted, you'll get your refund check in the mail or will be direct deposited if a valid bank account was listed when you filed.
I've received my Federal Return for 2019, but have legally separated from my wife. Our joint account is now closed, which my return was deposited to. Can I change my banking information with the IRS before the Stimulus Checks are sent out for the COVID-19 Pandemic?
How do I change my direct deposit information
We are still waiting for IRS guidance regarding the ability to change bank account information for an anticipated economic relief payments. If the IRS is unable to use the same means for the stimulus check as they did for your tax refund, then they will mail the check to the address on the most recently filed tax return they have on record for you.
Once things are finalized we will be able to provide more guidance. You can also stay updated by checking back on the following links.

You should update the IRS about any applicable address change you may have had since you filed your most recent tax return. Please refer to Update My Information for more information.
