How do I change my bank info for direct deposit?

You can change your direct deposit info by following these steps:

  • Open or continue your return.

  • Select File.

  • Select Start or Revisit or Continue next to Step 2 Your refund/payment info.

  • Select See all options on the Get your refund up to 5 days early screen.

  • Choose Direct deposit and follow the onscreen instructions.

If you've already filed and your return has been accepted (or mailed), it's too late to change your bank account for direct deposit. This is an IRS rule to prevent unauthorized changes and suspicious activity.

If your bank info is incorrect on your return, making your direct deposit fail, you'll receive a paper check in the mail. This help article has more info.
