The IRS is recalculating refunds for people whose AGI is $150K or below and who filed before the tax law that changed the amount of unemployment that is taxable on a federal return became effective.
The IRS began to send out the additional refund checks for tax withheld from unemployment in May. The refunds are being sent out in batches—starting with the simplest returns first. If you are eligible for the extra refund for federal tax that was withheld from your unemployment the IRS will be sending you an additional refund sometime during the next several months. TurboTax cannot track or predict when it will be sent. The IRS has not provided a way for you to track it, so all you can do is wait for the refund to arrive.

Mines. File joint with dependents is pending in my account for a deposit date of next week.
Mine is simple.
Single, 2 jobs + unemployment, no kids, and school. Just felt like mine would've been one of the first to process and i did it the week taxes opened up. Hopefully they process some this week.
They are being processed in batches. There is no way to predict what batch yours will be in.

I'm in that boat too.
When I reopen 2020 TT file, it shows me what my refund should have been (b/c it applied 'updates' to the software which seems like it messed up the file that was filed in a way. TT will now assume I got it. Hopefully one day that becomes true.) We filed 1 week too early in March for the new updates to have been applied.
Hopefully they will make good not that amount by the time 2021 taxes rolls around.
But I too am in that boat that hasn't come. (It was approx $500.)
It's so frustrating I filed my taxes early and I'm a single filer short form and still no unemployment refund? The tax transcript is useless and offers no info regarding this. I went back to work as soon as my state allowed but lost my job due to a serious illness so I need this $$ what's going on? Turbo tax has been saying for months it would update the info? Still waiting?

(There is no such thing as a "short form" since 2017. Everyone uses a Form 1040)
What I meant was easy form sorry Jeez single filer no dependents? I wasn't looking to be corrected as far as using short form term? I did file early before the new law and I do make less than 150K and my answer is always the same ? Yet still no refund?
Evey effort? Ok lol
Sorry----only the IRS is in control. The IRS has not provided any way for that extra refund for unemployment to be tracked. TurboTax cannot find out for you. It's frustrating but all you can do is wait for the IRS. They are sending out the refunds in batches.
Sorry one more question? Turbo Tax if you look at my paperwork has changed my original return? It no longer shows my unemployment compensation and taxes I paid? It put my AGI without including my unemployment $ ? Is this causing the delay? Where's my original copy which shows my income including unemployment $ ?
We have no access to your account or your tax return. We cannot see it. Look at your Form 1040 and see what is shown on Schedule 1 lines 7 and 8.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
The taxes you paid that were withheld from your unemployment should still be on 1040 line 25b.
Kathryn, I was in your boat too until about 2 weeks ago. Around Mid August, we finally got our check (which matched the update TT applied and showed me what they would have owed me.) I didn't do anything inside the TT s/w to get it to show what I was owed by them. It just happened to change from the original amount due to us as zero (b/c we had applied it all to this year's estimated taxes) to the amount due to us from paying UE taxes paid to Federal. The check came first, then a week later 2 letters saying the refund was on the way (one letter each... copies to my hubby vs me.)
When you reopened whatever you filed, did your refund amount go up as well?
Does anyone know if they announced whether or not UE taxes paid to us this year (2021) will also get a this same tax break? Will that relief be extended? My hubby also qualified for UE last year from June -August but they didn't pay him until March 2021. So we paid taxes on that, naturally, as we auto set it up that way.
