Out of the blue (~3 minutes after opening and surfing) and as I was getting ready to say "Still not there." it just appeared.
Well,Volvo Girl, I want to thank you & BTW my wife is into Packard's. Her pride and joy is her 1955 Packard Caribbean.

Glad you found it. Good luck. You can go just where you want by clicking on the tabs. You don't have to go in order though all the steps. If it's not too late, before you amend be sure to save your original return as a pdf file and the .tax2020 file. Then when you amend you first make a copy of the file to do the amendment in. So you don't mess up your original filed return. Save it with a different name. Go up to FILE - SAVE AS.

Using the TurboTax desktop editions installed on your computer, click on the File tab at the top of the desktop program screen and follow the interview for filing the tax return.
Using the TurboTax online editions -
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
To amend in the Desktop program.....
First you need to update your return with the filing status so it knows it was filed and accepted. For the Desktop program you have to check the filing status inside the program.
Open your return and go up to menu item
File > Electronic Filing > Check Electronic Filing Status
Then save your return and close and reopen it.
The jump to search is tricky to use. If it isn't working on your Mac program, then open your return and it may say Amend on the first screen. Or maybe it will be before you open your return. Go to File-Open and before clicking on your return see if it says Amend somewhere.
Or after you open your return and make a Duplicate like the Amend FAQ says, go to
Federal Taxes or Personal (Deskop H&B)

I am trying to submit amended returns for tax year 2019 and 2020.
I wanted to keep a copy of the original return, so I opened the original return and saved another copy with a different name, then I closed the TT program and re-opened TT. Both the original and copy of the original return shows status of return: accepted. I amended my returns, went through all the checks, and at the end it TT shows ready to file, but the only option is to print and mail.
When I click on file tab, although there is an option to electronic file, when I click on that button the program states: "E-filing is closed for the season, you can file by mail. You can still file this return but you have to walk through printing and filing by mail. TT efiling status closed for the tax season Oct 15, 2020." When I attempted to do this for my 2020 taxes I got the same message just differed by the date i.e. Oct 15. 2021
I have the download version of turbotax Home and business version.
Can you please assist me in filing electronically, the IRS allows for electronic filing of amended returns for 2019 onward. Both the above amended tax returns were originally done and filed using the same TT program (i.e. I have TT for tax year 2019 and 2020) and I used the TT file which shows it was accepted so the TT program knows the original tax return was efiled using TT.
TurboTax is not capable of e-filing a prior-year amended return so you will need to mail your 2019 & 2020 amended returns.
I am confused the other people on this chain said that it was possible.
The IRS website clearly shows that amended 2019 returns onward can be filed electronically using the tax software that was previously used to file the return.
IRS website " Electronic Filing Now Available for Form 1040-X
You can now file Form 1040-X electronically with tax filing software to amend 2019 or 2020 Forms 1040 and 1040-SR. To do so, you must have e-filed your original 2019 or 2020 return
The ability to file the Form 1040-X electronically has been an important long-term goal of the IRS e-file initiative for many years," said Sunita Lough, IRS Deputy Commissioner for Services and Enforcement. "Given the details needed on the form, there have been numerous challenges to add this form to the e-file family. Our IT and business operation teams worked hard with the nation's tax industry to make this change possible. This is another success for IRS modernization efforts. The addition helps taxpayers have a quicker, easier way to file amended returns, and it streamlines work for the IRS and the entire tax community."
Is there any other tax software for individuals that allows you to file the amendment electronically?
I have the exact same problem. I went through all the steps, but TurboTax Premier 2020 states "E-Filling is Closed for the Season, You Can File by Mail". Would Intuit solve this issue shortly?
Sorry you can not efile prior year returns or amended returns from Turbo Tax. There are other places that can.
Please list other places that can e-file 1040-X.
I don't know. Call around for a local CPA or EA or tax place. Are you amending? You can only efile an amended return from the same program that you efiled the original return, which you can't if you used Turbo Tax to do the original.
I was using Turbo Tax e-file 2020 Tax return. I am disappointed Turbo Tax do not allow me to e-file amended tax return of the same year.
