Does the irs make direct deposits throughout the day or just in the am or pm?

If you selected Refund Processing to pay for TurboTax fees out of your federal refund:

• The IRS will first send the refund to a third party bank who will then send TurboTax a payment and then, send the refund to your bank. 
• You may contact SBTPG, toll-free, at [phone number removed] or go to their secure website www.sbtpg.com, they will be able to give you an updated status and provide a deposit date.

My deposit was set for today 2/26/2020. However it still shows unsent. Some people are saying give it till noon. My friend whose date was also today, received her refund at 2am and her IRS tool still shows unsent.

If the IRS gave you a return date and you paid the TurboTax fees out of your refund amount it will take one to two business days after that return date because Turbo Tax has the refund, processes the payment, and deposit the rest into your account.

Although, the IRS will send Turbo Tax the fees deducted from your refund, they do not send your entire refund to Turbo Tax, nor will they cause a delay in when you receive your refund. See this FAQ regarding more information regarding the Refund processing fee.

I spoke directly to the IRS and turbo tax. IRS sent the refund to turbo tax and turbo tax gave me the login to the bank transfer. Which takes an additional 1-2 days after the IRS sent the whole refund

Turbo Tax will not have a status on your refund or when you will receive it. If the IRS website says processing, this means they are working on it.
