To access a prior year return, please reference the Help Article here.

You provided only half an answer.  How does one compare this year and last year's returns from the PROGRAM?  You do recall there is a standalone program, do you not?

Part of the process of filing this year was a side-by-side comparison with last year.   I need to see that again but I have found no way to do so.

On the black panel on the left, select:

  1. Tax Tools
  2. Print Center
  3. Be sure to select print all worksheets to access the comparison sheets.

Be aware you will not be able to print until you pay for the Forms.

See the attached for additional information.

There is no "black panel on the left".  There is nothing that says "Tax Tools".

I repeat I am using the PROGRAM, not the website.

I understand.  By Program, you are referring to the downloaded desktop version of the software.  Thank you for that clarification.

  1. Log into your TurboTax software.
  2. Select File
  3. Select Print
  4. You should see a screen similar to the following. Select Two-Year Comp at the end of the list on the left to generate the 2 year summary.

The Two-Year Comp is not present.  In its place is "No Active Form" which is greyed out.  The remainder of the screen is the same.

Note that I DO have my 2020 return open and the other options to print forms, e.g., All official forms required for filing,  are populated and product output if selected.

As a matter of curiosity, why is all information from Intuit based on the assumption one is using the online version of the program?

Try the following to help generate the form.

  1. When logged into the program, select Forms on the top right side
  2. On the screen in the sample below, select Open Form and in the search box, type Two.  You should see Two-Year Comparison below.
  3. Highlight the words Two-Year Comparison and select Open Form.
  4. Then go back and you should be able to follow the steps above to print your comparison.

In regards to your query, the majority of the instructions between the desktop software and online software are similar.  However, in cases like this, there are differences.  The bulk of the questions have been online software and hence the direction assuming you were in the online version.  Unless you are the original poster, it is not possible for us to see what version you are in and therefore, do our best to assist you.
