That "cannot efile until August" was the 2019 program message so are you using the 2019 program by mistake.

No. I'm certain I am using the 2020 program.

have you updated the program? Are you on Windows or Mac?

If your program says it's up to date or you can't update it then do the Manual Update.

I am running on a Mac and yes, I have run the updates each time I open TurboTax 2020.
