I responded to their letter via Certified Mail with copies of my W-2s but my response appears to have been delayed or lost. Based on the verbiage of the original letter from the IRS, it sounds like they may raise my tax bill or reduce my refund if they don't receive a response from me.
Any suggestions on what I should do? Or do I need to do anything? It sounds like all the employer W-2s will eventually make it to their systems anyway.

Currently with the backlog at the IRS anything mailed is taking 3-5 months to be processed.
I received the same letter and sent in copies of my W2s along with a copy of the letter. That was 8 weeks ago and have heard nothing yet, nor been able to get ahold of the IRS on the phone. Is there truly no way to track what's going on? Just need to wait another 1-3 months? Any tips for when to call to talk to a human at the IRS?
You can try calling the number on the notice you got to see where you are in the system but don't expect to get an answer ... you will probably need to wait a very long time with no way to track the progress.
