If you chose to mail your tax return, you must print, sign and mail the return yourself. TurboTax doesn't mail it for you. It will always say ready to mail because TurboTax doesn't know when you actually print and mail your return.

If you mailed it yourself, you should be able to track the status using the IRS tracking web site: https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Sorry but Printed or Ready to Mail means you have to print out your return and mail it to the IRS yourself.  So it has not been filed yet.

How to change from Mail to Efile

Turbo Tax will always say Ready to Mail.  They don't know if or when you actually mailed it.  And the IRS doesn't tell Turbo Tax when they get a mailed return.

If you don't switch to efile and decide to print and mail your returns, be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  And don't forget state.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
